WINNIPEG, Manitoba (UPI) --
A man who beheaded a fellow Canadian bus passenger should be allowed to spend more supervised time in the outside world, his treatment team recommends.
Two psychiatrists taking care of Vince Li at the Selkirk Mental Health Center told a review board that Li has stopped having hallucinations and has been a model patient, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported.
The 45-year-old Li was confined to the center after he was found not criminally responsible for beheading Tim McLean, 22, on a Greyhound bus in July 2008.
Li suffers from schizophrenia.
Dr. Steven Kremer told the Criminal Code Review Board Monday that Li scored very low on several tests for risk of violence, adding there is no evidence he would try to escape if taken on outings to Lockport and Winnipeg.
The board examines Li's condition annually and will make a decision on the recommendation next week.
Crown counsel Susan Helenchilde reminded the board of the magnitude of the attack on McLean, calling it one of the most "macabre crimes" ever committed in Manitoba.

I say take him for one last outing. A nice sightseeing flight into Northern Canada and then a shove out the door at 10,000 feet.
Maybe the good doctor should let him live with himself and his family for 6 months. :)

The article fails to mention that the doctors are also jihadists.
I vote for sending him to DC, where even if he goes beserk again, there won’t be any significant loss.

Let’s ask Tim McLean if Mr. Li should get to go outside and play. Oh wait, someone chopped off his head.
Back in the 80s when I was living in Alaska, some guy had pled the Twinkie after murdering a man and a women. He spent some time in the cuckoo’s nest for “treatment”. Finally, the shrinks proclaimed that he was good to go, back to normal and was ready to be a credit to society and find the cure for cancer. The weekend before he was scheduled to be released back into society, they decided to let him have a weekend “furlough”. He murdered four teenagers in Anchorage while out on “furlough”. I heard he was going to plead the Twinkie again.
I’ll wait for the next bus, please.
Shrink here: Libs love to point out - and back it up with “studies” - that the mentally ill are no more likely to act violently than anyone else in society.
What they don’t tell you is that these studies, by design, exclude one or more of the following groups from their study:
1. Those with a history of violence.
2. Those not taking their meds.
3. Those abusing drugs and alcohol.
Those, in case you haven’t guessed, are very large subgroups!
The truth is, the morbidity and mortality of people working in the mental health field far outranks that of the police and the military.
I remember a photo on the net showing him holding the severed head in the bus (can’t find it any more however). This criminally insane nutcase must NEVER be released from confinement. Sorry.
The only safe way to release this jay-bird is through a trap door on one of these contraptions. Then let the man upstairs sort them out.
