The Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Tuesday approved President Barack Obamas nominee for U.S. ambassador to Libya, a post that has been vacant since insurgents attacked the diplomatic mission in Benghazi last September, killing Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans.
With little discussion, the panel on a voice vote approved Deborah Kay Jones, a career diplomat who has served in Kuwait, Argentina, Syria, Iraq and Turkey.
Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J., chairman of the committee, praised Jones and spoke of the imperative of filling the job amid increasing lawlessness in Libya. On Monday, a deadly car bomb exploded near a hospital in Benghazi and officials gave conflicting numbers on the death toll.

That was a demonstration of being unnatural on Hillary’s part. Absolutely no empathy, and only feeling pity when it affects her personally.
Anyone would have to be crazy to be an Ambassador to any country involved with Islam these days.
“e-mails showed political considerations influenced the editing of talking points”
AP’s off the reservation.
Sure, the usual twaddle from Dingy Harry about a “smear campaign,” following Menendez’s:
“We’re honored to present the State Department ‘Award for Heroism’ to you, sorry I forget your name ... posthumously.”
“I’m not dead yet.” Ms Whatshername
“Day ain’t over yet. Don’t buy any green bananas over there, all I’m sayin’ and maybe you can hook me up with some senoritas.” Menendez
But the AP reporting news—land o’ Goshen ........
I know there is so much hand wringing that the Benghazi attack didn’t wake up enough people. That may be true in the broad sense, but I know young adults who are/were striving to do such work and have stopped dead in their tracks for this very reason. They are outwardly asking, ‘how do I know I wouldn’t be left to die’?
Remind me again how that pedophile is wrapped up in this again, was he on a committee giving money and weapons? I will have to go find the thread and get the info.

Kermit Gosnell, convicted of first-degree murder, sentenced to be Obama’s next ambassador to Libya.
I’m not sure why if other countries are pulling out most of their people, we are in a hurry to send someone back in. Am I not understanding why we need someone there right now?
That was a demonstration of being unnatural on Hillarys part. Absolutely no empathy, and only feeling pity when it affects her personally.
Exactly. She is a very vile creature.
It’s just a contributor jobs program. She’ll be encamped in Italy where she will met with the 2 non-islamic Libyan bureaucrats still living.
I don’t intend to sound sexist, but appointing a female diplomat to a militant-Islam country doesn’t sound like a good idea.
Especially a female Ambassador. We all know how much Islam respects women. (Sar.)
I’m sure that embassy would be more secure than Ft Knox if she were to go!
I agree. One has to be insane to be an ambassador while obama is President.
I have a long list of liberals I would like to see promoted to that job.
