Also on Lake Mille Lacs in Minnesota. A very long way from the Canadian border. Most ice since 1950.

Don’t live in either of those places unless you expect such a thing.

Don’t build near shorelines or on earthquake faults! Seriously there must be ways to divert ice heaves, given foresight.

ice that creeped off...
How about using crept? Apparently the writer didn’t have the pleasure of having the same English teacher as I.

I was on the U of Mn campus yesterday and there is still a pile of snow reaching up to the second level of a parking ramp there. (even though it got up to 98 yesterday here).

OMG...GLOBAL WARMING COULD HAVE SAVED THESE HOMES! I’m going out to buy an SUV now, and I just farted.
Hey, everyone has to do their part.

People were out taking nice videos, but they could have been trying to minimize damage by moving things out of the path of glass doors, etc.
To: CMB_polarization
It’s always been an issue on large open water lakes like mille lacs.
To: CMB_polarization
People who live there don’t think it’s such a big deal. Happens frequently on a smaller scale. This is unusual because it’s so late in the season. Mother Day weekend kicks off the Minnesota boating season.
