Holder to Hearing: Ask Somebody Else Holder to Issa: You're 'Shameful'
theatlanticwire.com ^ | 5-15-2013 | Philip Bump

Posted on 05/15/2013 1:41:20 PM PDT by servo1969

As predicted, Wednesday afternoon's testimony by Attorney General Eric Holder focused heavily on revelations that the Department of Justice subpoenaed phone records from the Associated Press following their publishing leaked information about a terror attack. The House Judiciary Committee had the wrong guy at the witness table, though, since Holder, who'd recused himself from the matter couldn't offer much new information. This left the committee members to fill the time by attacking their opponents, and allowed for a dispute that resulted in Holder calling a Congressmember's behavior "unacceptable and shameful."

At the start, it seemed as though the focus might not be the AP investigation. Rep. Bob Goodlatte, chairman of the committee, either didn't have time to update his talking points for the hearing or let his own priorities slip through. During his opening comments, Goodlatte raised the following issues as topics, in order: the Boston terror attacks, spending at the department, questionable farm loan payments (known popularly as "Pigford"), the problems at the IRS, and, finally, the department's seizure of phone records from the AP.

Or, perhaps, it was because the chairman knew what questions he was likely to get answers to. When Goodlatte kicked off the questioning, he and Holder had a brief back-and-forth on the FBI's use and sharing of information about the Tsarnaevs prior to the Boston attacks. Holder agreed with Goodlatte, for example, that the law regarding the immediacy of reading Miranda rights didn't reflect what he sees as current needs. When Goodlatte moved on to the AP, the responses were less forthcoming. "I don't know" why a subpoena was necessary, Holder insisted, "I was recused."

Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner of Wisconsin had a little more luck. Stating that he wanted to “pin down” who authorized the subpoenas that yielded the AP records. Was it deputy attorney general James Cole, Sensenbrenner asked? After repeating that he couldn’t be sure due to his recusal, Holder confirmed that it was — but only after receiving a note from his staff. (Multiple members subsequently suggested Cole should testify, though Holder noted that he probably couldn’t respond.) Sensenbrenner continued: Why were you recused? “I was interviewed as one of the people who had access to the info,” Holder replied — in other words, he was a potential suspect in the leak. Sensenbrenner, frustrated at not getting a response, suggested Holder go to the Truman Museum and “take a picture of the thing on his desk that said ‘the buck stops here.’”

WHY?

Why did Holder recuse himself? I mean, he must know.

Other people don’t recuse you when you are literally the man in charge.

Who “recused” Holder?

The Inspector General? If so, say so, because that means Holder is the target of an investigation.

0bama? If so, say so, because it probably means the cover-up is well underway, and 0bambi wants to protect Holder, and possibly himself.

How lame is it that the Attorney General recuses himself? Is he to be impeached because he can’t execute his responsibilities without becoming the target of the investigation?

WTF is recusal about here?

Holder went into the hearing with one task: cover his rear-end. He is a sad excuse for an AG. America deserves better. In fact, America deserves an overall better Administration. This one is a corrupt fiasco.

This is the “dog ate my homework” White House.

Every answer is like the one that started this exchange - “I’m sure there was a very good reason we withheld the information, I just have no idea what that reason is”.

OK, then you don’t know there was a very good reason, you are just wasting everyone’s time.

>>Why did Holder recuse himself? I mean, he must know.<<

He CAN’T recuse himself. He isn’t a judge. He is the boss of the department and answerable to the people (and Congress) for its actions and activities.

This is like killing your parents and then saying you should be given leniency because you are an orphan!

Let’s see if the Republicans can FINALLY get this guy tossed out AND start Impeachment proceedings against obozo.

Since when does a witness get to insult the chairman? Isn’t that a lack of decorum? And what makes Issa shameful? Asking questions that a lot of other people would have asked.

Without a doubt, 0dumb0 & Holder as the 2 most evil, traitorous RAT bastards in the U.S., followed only by Hillary & Napalitano as a close #3 & #4. All 4 of these traitors should be convicted of treason and sentenced to life in prison with no hope of pardon.

Holder is just another in the long line of Democrats who try to recreate the indignation of Joseph N. Welch telling Senator McCarthy “Have you no sense of decency, sir...” when McCarthy was pressing for an answer from a young lawyer on a fact Welch himself had confirmed in a New York Times article weeks before. As then, the media loved the “righteous indignation” in response to an attempt to get the truth out - whether or not it embarrasses the current Democrat or communist (sorry if I repeat myself) being questioned.

“Holder knows his melanin is bullet proof.”

It’s time to let these traitors know that your skin color doesn’t excuse you from obeying the law. Once that is made abundantly clear, the skin color excuse goes away.

In South Carolina, the state has already arrested 20 of Holder’s thugs. Each one is facing up to 20 years in prison. That’s how you end bullet-proof melanin excuses. You put them on trial and throw them in prison when found guilty.
