When the M1911 arrived...in 1911...it was probably an immediate hit with military and law enforcement...and probably also labeled an assault weapon on day one of production. We’ve come a long way.

I’ve been wanting a Mini 14 for years. Love my 10-22 and Mk 77.
I kinda hmmmm’d at that too, but if you think about it, in the common definition of semi-auto today - one trigger pull, one shot, one might class a revolver with an AR-15. It’s a stretch.
In days past what we call semi-autos were more commonly called self-loading, one shot, reloads and ready for another shot. This differentiates it from say a revolver because for the next shot to ‘load’ the trigger has to be pulled again, first.
I believe the Ruger 10-22 holds that spot, i maybe wrong.

I’ve been looking all over for a nice semi-automatic bolt-action rifle.
Like I said, it was a stretch, but if you think about it, the pull of a trigger moving the next round into place is the same as pulling the bolt and reloading a round.
That’s why I prefer the term self-loading.

Rare as hen’s teeth...I once ran across one in a gunshop, missing the magazine and another critical component. It was basically a 1903 you couldn’t shoot.
Some years ago, I ran across a piece written by Will Rogers, wherein he went off on semi auto handguns and gave some oddly stilted praise for the badmen of yore because they used old-fashioned revolvers. I recall reading it and thinking, "What is this crap all about?"

None of my weapons can be labeled “assault” since I wil not assault anyone, but I really like kick-ass defensive weapons of my choosing.
Since there is no set definition of the term “Assault Weapon”
[and in fact anything that could be used as a ‘weapon’ could be used to ‘assault’ someone.]
AND since there is NO differentiation between said Items and the Arms mentioned in the Bill of Rights – it should be readily Clear that term is simply a Scam designed to ban ALL weapons – scary looking or not.
Check with your local Press. I am sure they know where you can acquire a few.
How about my Remington 870 pump? It's a 12 gauge AK-47 semi-automatic bolt-action assault revolver with an 8 bullet clip. Very nice. Very sweet!
