The commander in chief of the American armed forces today forced a violation of Marine Corps regulations, so he wouldn’t get wet.
According to Marine Corps regulation MCO P1020.34F of the Marine Corps Uniform Regulations chapter 3, a male Marine is not allowed to carry an umbrella while in uniform. There is no provision in the Marine Corps uniform regulation guidelines that allows a male Marine to carry an umbrella.
Nevertheless, during a press conference under a light drizzle with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan this morning, President Obama allowed the First Head to be protected from the elements by an umbrella held by a male Marine corporal.
The relevant portion of the regulation reads, “3035. UMBRELLAS (Female Marines). Female Marines may carry an all-black, plain standard or collapsible umbrella at their option during inclement weather with the service and dress uniforms. It will be carried in the left hand so that the hand salute can be properly rendered. Umbrellas may not be used/carried in formation nor will they be carried with the utility uniform.”

No one needs to say anything to establish the fact that the Marines are a kind of sacred institution.
People who care about the country can’t help but feel it in their bones.
The president left Marines to die doing their duty in Benghazi, fighting desperately to save the Ambassador. From him or by his neglect a stand down order was sent twice.
Maybe this Marine with the umbrella was thinking the whole time about the Marines left to die fighting at the Embassy.
Obama uses Marines as a shoe shine boy and as a Hollywood party prop for his wife (remember that?).
It doesn’t take any dignity from the Marines, just from him.
Two former SEALs and two diplomats were killed at the Consulate in Benghazi. The Embassy is located in Tripoli. No Marines were killed in Libya.
The initial reports said they were marines, sorry for the bad info I remembered from those:
“Al-Sharef said two U.S. Marines sent to Benghazi when the clash erupted were shot and killed by the well-armed protesters. It was not immediately clear whether the Marines were part of Stevens’ security detail.”
Hey, at least the poor guy can’t salute him properly. A left handed salute would be more than the POS deserves, too.
The Marine did exactly the right thing. He performed his duty. It’s Zippy who was in the wrong.
The whole thing makes Zippy look like a total loser. Not that he didn’t already look like a total loser.
It highlights the fact that he is willing to deploy the Marines to keep rain off himself, but not to save lives in Benghazi. That’s going to be the big issue here.
A big thank you to all our Marines who serve. And to the two who were stuck holding umbrellas, in the long run your actions may help bring down this imposter. That would do more for the defense of this country than any combat could. Trust me, you looked honorable and manly. It made Zippy look ever more pathetic and wussy.
He’s required to obey orders. He isn’t required to be happy about it. He’s doing exactly what he should be doing - and it’s making the Zipster look like a fool.
