The scandals are falling apart (seriously)
Washington Post ^ | May 16, 2013 | Ezra Klein

Things go wrong in government. Sometimes it’s just bad luck. Sometimes it’s rank incompetence. Sometimes it’s criminal wrongdoing. Most of the time you never hear about it. Or, if you do hear about it, the media eventually gets bored talking about it (see warming, global). But every so often an instance of government wrongdoing sprouts wings and becomes something quite exciting: A political scandal.

The crucial ingredient for a scandal is the prospect of high-level White House involvement and wide political repercussions. Government wrongdoing is boring. Scandals can bring down presidents, decide elections and revive down-and-out political parties. Scandals can dominate American politics for months at a time.

On Tuesday, it looked like we had three possible political scandals brewing. Two days later, with much more evidence available, it doesn’t look like any of them will pan out. There’ll be more hearings, and more bad press for the Obama administration, and more demands for documents.

But — and this is a key qualification — absent more revelations, the scandals that could reach high don’t seem to include any real wrongdoing, whereas the ones that include real wrongdoing don’t reach high enough. Let’s go through them.

So, if the scandal doesn’t reach to the top, it has no long lasting effects?

What about the loss of trust? We’ve heard nothing but lie after lie and incessant passing of the buck.

I don’t think it’s his downfall necessarily either, but the AGENDA has taken a serious hit, and will more so. Could even derail Obamacare eventually, as this could result in us getting the Senate next year.

Now that I agree with. I was just saying the same thing today to a buddy of mine.

He won't go down for any of this...but for all intenets and purposes...his agenda is stalled...and he's got a lot less street cred with the dems come 2014 after Obamacare cleans their clock.

Can you imagine an article like this coming out so soon after a supposed scandal in Bush Administration? The real shame here is what has been this country’s biggest shame for decades, and that is the leftist media. The media should examine its culpability in the corruption of government. Had the media been doing its job as America’s watchdog, instead of trying to prove its worthy standing in the personality cult of Obama, none of this would have happened, or at the very least, we would have a different president right now, one who wouldn’t tolerate scandals like these.

Right after Obama’s coronation for his first term, Homeland Security came out with a memo listing conservative groups, gun owners, Christian groups, veterans and just about anyone who was too ethical to support Obama as possible terrorists. That was the first official hint of how far Obama intended to go in the war against his political enemies, and the leftist press ignored it. Should we be surprised over Obama’s IRS going after conservative groups? What would surprise me is that anyone in the leftist media really thinks Obama didn’t know about it. And I’m not surprised in the least, because they know good and well the corruption runs deep at the White House, and they know their job is to cover it up.

It's begun. The entire media will be repeating this in a couple of weeks.

Yep. They realize the progressive agenda is at risk if the IRS is neutered. They need the IRS for kenyancare. Media Matters and the rest of the paid shills are hitting the comments section hard like during the election.

The Demofascists have gone to Defcon 5. What will the GOP do about it? Fight back or tip toe to 2014?

Consider there are no coincidences. Based from there, presume that at some point it will be clear as day why the feral govt bought those hollow pts, and other side purchases...

Well if the GOP does that they will lose, again.

If Boehner & McConnell engage the kenyan on this directly I think the Senate is in play. But they will have to be aggressive and do the heavy lifting with the media already back to batting for Team Kenya.

Boehner should be laying the groundwork for a government shut down if the kenyan is unwilling to “reform” the IRS. IRS out of obamacare completely for starters. The GOP needs to be dictating the terms now. Let’s see if they do it.
