On Tuesday, KY Sen. Rand Paul launched a spirited defense of Apple, whose tax strategies were subject to a hearing of the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations. "I frankly think the committee should apologize to Apple," Paul said. Paul went on to accuse the committee of "bullying" one of America's greatest companies, prompting Sen. John McCain to quickly defend the inquiry and say that Paul's remarks were "frankly, offensive."

Did Apple do anything illegal by sheltering their income through off-shore subsidiaries? No? Then leave them alone.

McCain is a fool and he gave the media their pull quote: “...can yah do somethin’ about all these app updates.”

I’d bet the only app he has prompts his aid when it’s time for John’s suppository.

McCain is a tax collector for the police state

From Rush Limbaugh: “Apple paid $6 billion last year to the US Treasury. To put that in perspective, that’s $16 million a day Apple paid in taxes. Apple pays 2.5% of all income tax collected by the US Treasury.”

The point is that politicians do not like facts that might interfere with their preconceived notions. Facts that might put the issue in perspective.

Yes, $6B comes out to roughly $16M per day, but $6B is not 2.5% of the $1.5T in income taxes that the treasury collects each year, it is less than half a percent thereof. (Still significant, of course, nonetheless.)

He’d make a fine a lot of things, but loyal Conservative patriot..., not happening is it.

When he supported closing Gitmo and moving the terrorists up here, a lot more than Democrat ran through my mind.

I believe that the claim is that Apple pays 2.5% of the corporate income taxes collected each year. That would be a subset of the total amount of income taxes collected by the treasury each year.

Yes, in either case Apple pays a significant amount of tax to the US government.

-But McCain. You have so much else going on that you could be offended about. Why pick on Rand Paul?

With each passing year, I’m finding McCain himself offensive. Yes, he served his country but way past time for him to retire. Last time calling Paul and Cruz wackabirds or wackadoo’s . . . time for McCain to just go away.

I'm going to try to make your post more perfect (is that possible?)

Couldn’t happen to a more deserving troll, and the sooner the better.

*Awaiting your approval*

Tax dodgers should get as much respect as draft dodgers.

I pay deeply, ladyjane. You have no idea what amount I write to the IRS. No company should have a zero tax schedule, like GE, that's the problem, an unfair tax system. I posted it was a legal loophole that could be used and the tax code should be more balanced.

If this is so, it proves McCain is being a true democrat. He is usually on the wrong end of most issues.

I am no fan of the commie-loving, gay-supporting leftists at Apple, but I defend their right to do what they want with their own money.

It’s none of Congress’ or the IRS’ business where Apple has its money.

Oh, and John McCain is as sickening as ever.

If we repealed the income tax and replaced it with a sales tax, the 12 million illegal aliens would be paying taxes every time they bought something. It might even provide impetus for them to go back where they came from.

What I can’t understand is why the people of Arizona, who generally support solid conservatives, keep re-electing this senile clown.

The system is messed up in Arizona. They allow cross-over voting in the primaries. I’m not sure exactly how the system is set up, but Democrats do vote in our primaries.

This takes place in a number of states. It’s just one of my major beefs with the Republican party.

I do realize that states set the laws that govern their elections, but the Republican party doesn’t push back or object to these types of things.

And so we wind up with John McCain and others screwing us decade after decade.
