The French capital saw another day of anti-LGBT protests as thousands flocked to central Paris to protest legislation signed on May 18 by President Francoise Holland allowing same-sex marriages. Prior to the rally, police arrested over 50 protesters, RT Reported.

Nearly 5,000 police took up positions across Paris on Sunday, as up to 200,000 people have been expected to demonstrate in city’s center in four different simultaneous protest marches.

Organizers claimed on Twitter that a million people joined the demonstration. Interior Minister Manuel Valls urged families with children to stay clear of the demonstration route.

Three rallies are headed by the anti-same-sex-marriage movement, while the fourth is led by the traditionalist Catholic lobby group, Civitas. By late afternoon, the protesters were beginning to fill the Invalides esplanade just across the Seine River from the Champs Elysees.

The area around Les Invalides monument was full of opponents of same-sex marriages waving pink and blue flags, while far-right activists hung a banner on the ruling Socialist Party’s headquarters urging President Francois Hollande to quit.

The protesters have been heading from the three points around the city, and the march has reportedly been largely peaceful.

Prior to Sunday’s protest, 50 demonstrators were arrested Saturday evening after chaining themselves to metal barriers in the middle of the Champs Elysées and firing smoke canisters. Police also seized a van carrying masks, banners and smoke bombs.

France’s first-ever gay wedding, between two men, is due to be celebrated on Wednesday in the southern town of Montpellier.

The Frenchies are protesting - and we aren't?

Haven’t been following this.....Why are the French protesting so much? Can’t be religious objection - maybe snobbery (it is, after all called the “English vice”). Whatever the reason, it’s sort of awkward to have the French doing something that has been beat out of us.

One of the few times I would say “wish I were there”.

Can’t be religious objection

Well the Civitas group certainly is motivated by that. Can't speak for the others.

It is mainly a religious objection. French Christians are a little more devout than neighbors further north. This is also seen as yet more social engineering by a failed government. The growing youth movement, ‘Generation Identitaire’ is grounded in traditional, Christian values, and seeks to reverse the modern cultural vacuum.

French Christians are very active when they are threatened, much like Christians in Eastern Europe.

When 1 + 1 = 3 I’ll support gay marriage. There is an inescapable, natural order to the universe whether liberals want to believe it or not. Scientific principles, similar to those defining human behavior and morality, simply do not cease to exist due to personal opinion or political agenda. Just ask Galileo, Newton, Darwin or Einstein. My opposition to same sex marriage needs no religious basis, although marriage is clearly a religious institution based on a bond between a man and a woman consecrated under God. If progressives want to continue to live on an alternative plane of reality, convince themselves the world really is flat and that a society without boundaries or values will not slide into the abyss of degradation, I’m sure Obamacare will gladly provide, at our cost, those psychotropic prescriptions they so desperately need. Otherwise, gay couples should be thankful civil unions are even an option. That, regardless of their ignorant opposition, is the extent of my tolerance!

Thousands. OK

Looks like hundreds of thousands, millions, maybe.

The French refuse to speak any other language than their own, in France. That’s true.

Looking at how we cave and kow tow to the Spanish here will tell you of course they’re better at saying no.

In a word, yes, the French are more courageous than we are.

They are not more courageous than our WWII soldiers were, but they know, and we may as well admit, neither are we.

Agree with your point except 1 -- let's not fall for their newspeak

I no longer use the term "progressive" to refer to the left. On Huffington (take the fight to the enemy, join me!), I use the term progressive to refer to US, the pro-family, pro-children people.

The leftists, pro-homosexuals are regressive, wanting to regress people backwards to pre-historic morality (or rather immorality) where there is no marriage but random hookups or orgies, where children are killed at a whim

No, the left are NOT progressives, WE are

There is also no such thing as pro-choice. I call it pro-killing-choice or pro-baby-killing

Also, do not use the terms homophobe or Islamophobe -- distrust of either of those groups is not a disease or a mental illness signified by the "phobe"

No, I refuse to use the language that the left forces on us -- if they are "progressive" and "pro-choice", it pushes us as barbarians. So, let's take a vow to stop falling for the left's newspeak.

Amazing that so many in France have the courage to do this. Don’t forget their socialized lifestyle allows them the time to do this. Here in the US we are concerned with earning a living. Though its hard to know if that were not a factor, would we show the same courage?

Most, if not all, people know that same sex marriage is nothing more than a transient popular culture. Natural law rules, even if distorted for a short time by heretics.

The protests are mostly about the rights of the child to have one mother and one father. France already has Civil Unions but did not have “gay marriage” nor were such couples allowed to adopt, the new law changes that.

pathetic and sad and cowardly for our side to not want to raise these mainstream traditional issues which most support in this country.

Talk radio, hell even some freepers can’t or won’t mention this issue because they’re either cowards, agree with the socialists and their agenda or the usual crap of “well I know a couple of homosexuals and they are nice”

Speak up, call your reps, tell your friends, family and tell them about the military and how rapes on men and women are now at record levels since don’t ask has gone, how the boy scouts were pressured and caved to this agenda and how CA and other places are teaching it in the schools

same here I refused to use the lefts language because what they want is to use their fancy words and put a nice positive word on their sick twisted agenda,.

They are homosexuals not gay, it’s socialist health care not affordable care act, it’s illegals, not undocumented etc etc etc.

The French fight for family and their children while even some on our side , even some RINO freepers accept this communist socialist agenda.

Hope they’re proud of themselves for refusing to speak out on social issues because all they have done is help to ruin this country
