Paul open to voting for Senate immigration bill(but against path to citizenship for illegals)
The Hill ^ | 05/26/13 | Bernie Becker

Posted on 05/26/2013 10:15:02 PM PDT by sickoflibs

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said that his chamber’s immigration bill needs to be improved, but that there’s still a chance he could vote for it.

Paul said that he could end up backing immigration reform if Senate negotiators will work with him on his push to certify that the border is secure. Paul though warned that the bill also goes in the wrong direction on work visas.

“I support immigration reform. At this time, I think the bill needs to strengthen border security. It also needs to expand work visas,” Paul said on ABC’s “This Week.”

“I will support a bill that fixes it, and I do want to support a bill,” Paul added.

Paul though said that he was against a pathway to citizenship for people currently in the country illegally, a key plank of the Senate bill.

Paul open to voting for Senate immigration bill

So. The Senator is open to voting for the complete sellout of our national sovereignty, security, borders, independence, the rule of law, personal privacy, and ability to earn our daily bread without government permission.

Any politician who gives one ounce of aid and comfort to this will never get one ounce of my political support.

Secure the border, expand work visas, no new pathway to citizenship. Did I get that right?

So "why are the RINO's supporting it" is the Ten million Vote question that needs to be asked.

A long time ago, I came to the conclusion that the GOPe don't really care whether they win or lose. They still get their turn at the money trough. And, being the minority means they don't have to work as hard, what with writing bills and all. They just squawk loudly at the opposition every now and then to make the folk back home think they are working for the home folk.

At the end of the legislative day, they meet up with their friends from across the aisle for drinks and laughs at hoodwinking the public.

Someone’s idea of a perfect wet dream is to turn our nation into Mexico del Norte,

We keep getting the sob stories of illegals who come here for a better life, yada yada yada. [Hand me a Kleenex.]

They, however, too many times, end up trying to change their new locality into the same kind of cesspool they left in their 'home' country. They are sort of like -- Liberals.

My post was incomplete...sorry bout that

We will never get large numbers of Hispanics to support conservative causes. Even Cuban Americans are more into govt goodies than being anti Castro

Cruz is somewhat phony in his small-bore opposition to the bill as well.

Better that we realize how totally we’ve been sold down the river even by our big-name, supposed tea party conservative heroes than to continue our delusions.

E.g.: GOP leadership in Congress new about the IRS tea party targeting long before losing in 2012, and they happily kept silent on it.

how do we sell true conservative ideas

That is the biggest problem the GOP has -- they can't seem to find an effective way to get their message out. Of course, the Dems will lie and point fingers at anything the GOP comes up with -- that is the nature of politics. But, it still holds -- the GOP just can't get their message out.

The last 2 presidential nominees and the last term of GWBush didn't help the Republican message at all. What other president could run for a 2nd term by blaming everything on the previous administration, and win?

Another problem with the GOP is their capacity to fold on major issues. Too many of those on Capitol Hill just want to go along to get along.

Maybe that is the answer -- until the GOP/Republicans actually stand for something, they will continue to lose.

He supports “Immigration Reform”, which is just code for Illegal Alien Amnesty.

Secure the Borders...Deport the Illegal Aliens. Anything else is Amnesty

Pay a fine, learn English, and go to the end of the line.

[Of course, expect Congress or the Admin in power to cancel or ignore the pay-a-fine part -- that creates a undue burden. And the learn English part -- that creates and undue burden and English is just so hard to learn. And the go to the end of the line part -- that creates another undue burden. And the secure the border part -- that, too, creates such an undue burden, especially on future new illegal immigrations.]

Just pull up the rhetoric from the Comprehensive Amnesty attempts under Bush2 or McCain and Graham's speeches. It is generally the same rhetoric, with some minor modifications.

The GOP-E and Rand Paul are crying foul now on that issue and for good reason from their perspectives......

Many of the “Tea Party” groups targeted by the IRS were fronts for the GOP-E and Paulistas, not necessarily conservative grassroots citizens.

Incumbent politicians of both parties deal with their opponents using dirty tricks.

JFK’s political operative Kenneth O’Donnell was hatching an operation 50 years ago for the 1964 election that LBJ utilized.

It involved monitoring conservative radio shows that bought blocks of time on hundreds of radio stations across the country.

Any attacks on the president or his supporters would trigger equal free air time requests under FCC rules (Fairness) hindering the broadcasters by having the stations tell them to censor their words to avoid losing paid time to respond to “attacks” by the paid broadcasters.

The operation was carried out in 1964 but one radio station said NO triggering the Supreme Court’s Red Lion decision enshrining fairness regulation until a free speech ruling came down in the 1980’s.

what part of “no new pathway to citizenship” mean amnesty?

Many of the illegals have no interest in becoming citizens. But the Rubio/Schumer/McCain/Graham Gang of 8 bill 'permits' those already here to be safe and can continue to stay here.

==

Any bill that does not deal with the 'illegal' part of illegal immigration (present and future) is a useless bill.

Yall keep telling me that Paul supports amnesty, but whenever I head him speak on this issues he insists on "No new pathway to citizenship" his website clearly states the same. So someone is not telling the truth. I don't know if you've looked into Pauls' position on this issue, but short of deporting them all, which is not going to happen, his plan is the best. Secure the border FIRST, give illegals that qualify work visas, no federal benefits, and No New Pathway to Citizenship.

It appears to me Paul is trying to make the best of a bad situation.

"Pay a fine, learn English, and go to the end of the line.

That is the gang of 8 plan which Paul does not support. It is very disingenuous to attribute to Paul that which is not Pauls.
