Sen. John McCain Monday became the highest-ranking U.S. official to enter Syria since the bloody civil war there began over two years ago, The Daily Beast has learned.
McCain, one of the fiercest critics of the Obama administrations Syria policy, made the unannounced visit across the Turkey-Syria border with Gen. Salem Idris, the leader of the Supreme Military Council of the Free Syrian Army. He stayed in the country for several hours before returning to Turkey. Both in Syria and Turkey, McCain and Idris met with assembled leaders of Free Syrian Army units that traveled from around the country to see the U.S. senator. Inside those meetings, rebel leaders called on the United States to step up its support to the Syrian armed opposition and provide them with heavy weapons, a no-fly zone, and airstrikes on the Syrian regime and the forces of Hezbollah, which is increasingly active in Syria.

Fixed you post
Zero is setting up McCain to be his political cover when he gets us more deeply involved in Syria...
McCain is either too senile to understand or does care as long as he gets to have his media lapdogs fawning over him again
So now John McCain is officially an illegal alien
Apt correction. Well done. Stupidity / treachery is deep with both of these two

Republican Sens. John McCain and Lindsey Graham were vocal critics of the administrations messaging after the Benghazi attacks, but on Friday, they issued a laudatory statement about Victoria Nuland

Robert Kagan is an adviser to Senator John McCain and his idea that the United States should continue to take a strong, and possibly a confrontational, role in world affairs accords with McCains own views.
Kagans brother Frederick was instrumental in persuading President Bush to reinforce US forces in Iraq with last years surge, against the advice of the Iraq Study Group of wise men at the time. The surge was and is a policy supported by John McCain and one of the reasons for his political success.

EXCERPT
Following the announcement, Republicans on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, which is tasked with confirming her nomination, remained mum on her nomination, though a committee source speaking to The Cable said there is “very little chance” the nomination won’t trigger a fight.
Nuland, however, is something of an awkward target for Republicans. From 2003 to 2005, she served as principal deputy national security advisor to Vice President Dick Cheney. Her husband is prominent neoconservative writer Robert Kagan, co-founder of the Project for the New American Century and an advisor to Mitt Romney’s failed presidential bid.

Why is he allowed outside without a chaperone?
The GOP nominee for President’s involvement is all I need to know: we should stay out of Syrian involvement.

The United States Government is more of a bad Novel than it is a representative government of the people. mccain reminds me of Senator Charles F. Meachum in the movie “Shooter”.

John McCain is selling a new unnecessary war as our Ambassador to the military industrial complex.
It appears that there is such a thing as ‘political incest’.
Wouldn’t it be great if he sought asylum and became a Syrian citizen. I doubt they would want him, and AZ is dependent on him.
Technically, this would be a circumcision, since McCain is a d**khead.

Good luck finding his neck...
Shades of “Charlie Wilson’s War”.
And what did Juan think he might learn by slipping into Syria for a few hours and talking to one side of the conflict? But I’m sure he’ll come back and claim to be the most informed of all on this issue, and to possess information that makes his proposals critical to US national security.
Stand by for a blitzkrieg on the Sunday morning shows.
And don’t tell me he actually went without Lindsey?
John McCain will do a “Chamberlain” and come back and say the rebels are peace loving kind souls who are worthy of our help.
