Briar MacLean was sitting in class during a study period Tuesday, the teacher was on the other side of the room and, as Grade 7 bullies are wont to do, one kid started harassing another.
“I was in between two desks and he was poking and prodding the guy,” Briar, 13, said at the kitchen table of his Calgary home Friday.
“He put him in a headlock, and I saw that.”
He added he didn’t see the knife, but “I heard the flick, and I heard them say there was a knife.”

The rest was just instinct. Briar stepped up to defend his classmate, pushing the knife-wielding bully away.
The teacher took notice, the principal was summoned and Briar went about his day. It wasn’t until fourth period everything went haywire.
“I got called to the office and I wasn’t able to leave until the end of the day,” he said.
That’s when Leah O’Donnell, Briar’s mother, received a call from the vice-principal.
“They phoned me and said, ‘Briar was involved in an incident today,’” she said. “That he decided to ‘play hero’ and jump in.”
Ms. O’Donnell was politely informed the school did not “condone heroics,” she said. Instead, Briar should have found a teacher to handle the situation.
“I asked: ‘In the time it would have taken him to go get a teacher, could that kid’s throat have been slit?’ She said yes, but that’s beside the point. That we ‘don’t condone heroics in this school.’ ”
Instead of getting a pat on the back for his bravery, Briar was made to feel as if he had done something terribly wrong. The police were called, the teen filed a statement and his locker was searched.

This is the result of “no tolerance” policies; it leads to an absence of common sense.

Sure seems to. That kid the other day brought a cap-gun to school and the school officials nearly went into cardiac arrest. It was Kindergarten for heaven’s sake. The little five year old didn’t know any better. Good grief.
We’ve got the brainless leading the innocents.
And so the brainless implement the homosexual agenda, because you know, it’s the right thing to do.
In the specific sense, my belief is the relentless drumbeat of the pervert subculture.
The GLBT crowd will not retreat; until beaten down unequivocally. Social pressure and limitless legislation notwithstanding.

Sooner, rather than later, I know the name and image of the "macho" posturing bully will be available on the web.
And the punishment will be widespread and universal.
The Calgary Board of Education did not respond to a request for comment.
I do hope that board is an elected one, and the good people of Calgary know how to remedy that problem.
I was an unassuming kid, not a bully, not super popular, but I had plenty of friends in 8th grade. I made good grades and I didn't get into trouble. There was this kid that was about 6 foot tall, a good 8-inches taller than me that decided to make me his target in gym class. He wasn't a jock, and I can't say I was jock either, I was more of an academic, but I fit into the jock set at the time since I played football, wrestled and played baseball. After gym class one day as we were getting dressed in the locker room the tall bully literally snuck me with a upper cut as I was tying my shoe on a bench. I immediately put him into a head lock and start to pound on his face in self defense. This drew everyone in the locker room around including the gym teachers. The gym teachers stood there watching as I decimated this kids face. I recall looking up and saying to a gym teacher, "If I let this guy up, he's going to kill me. Are you going to stop it?" He let me continue to punch this kid's face in until I was too tired to continue. That is when the gym teacher broke things up.
I was sent home for the rest of the day because my pants were covered in blood. The bully was suspended for 10 days. I remember being worried when he came back to school because I would see him the halls and I figured he would come after me the moment he saw me again.
I vividly remember walking down the hall at school the day he came back and seeing him move from the middle the hall to the lockers along the side of the hall to avoid me.
The bottom line, the bully learned a lesson. I gained some confidence and a ton of respect for doing the right thing. The teachers let it happen, because this is how 13 and 14 year boys behave before they become men.
That reminds me of something I read in the last 24 hours, by one of my favorite authors ever, Florence King, in a column written the last day of the year 2001.
”As always, language irritants have abounded this past year. Leading the list is "It's not a matter of if, but when" in reference to the next terror attack. I don't contest the truth of it; what irks me is the preening that accompanies it — liberals suddenly advertising themselves as realists after spending their entire pre-Sept. 11 lives as total idiots.”

I agree. It is also disconcerting to watch them act as if they have always supported a strong military, when they fight tooth and nail to dismantle what we have constantly.
That they are such pussies is OUR greatest strength, because when this eventually comes to a head... their wont really be a fight.
I would be MUCH more worried if they were the ones with all the guns and the will to use them.

And that’s why they want gun control. LOL
Sadly though, they have aligned with gangs, and racially motivated anger groups. That can be very problematic.

I had a bully on the bus that I finally got tired of and elbow punched hard to the solar plexus.
When he could breath again, he asked why I did that.
I 'splained.
He never bothered me again.
Turned out later that his old man was a drunk that beat his kids and wife.
Gotta feel a little bit sorry for the bullies when you thrash them into behaving like men.
