Since radical unionism, black ‘pride’, welfarism and Coleman Young & Kwami Kilpatrick, along with Sen’s Stabenow and Levin, Detroit’s gone right in the crapper. A once dynamic and thriving city, now a classic victim of liberal/progressive suicide.

Private companies are far more accountable.

They sure are. Just ask the management at Enron or WorldCon.

Cool!

Yup. FReepers are far too quick to bash other people for doing what we traditionally support.

There's a private bus company operating in Detroit that's cheaper than the non service the city provides and its totally rider funded. They even advertize that its OK to drink alcohol on their buses.

You can also smoke in lots of bars in Detroit despite the state law banning it because owners have chosen to ignore that stupid law.

Can’t take their guns away at all. Detroit is an open (or concealed) carry city.

Actually, a lot of those people want the criminals to THINK they are unarmed ~ that way they can get to the root of the problem faster and with less inconvenience.

There are a good 50,000 people that Detroit would be better off not having live there.

They’ve had commies in the city government for 3/4 of a century. This was the dumping ground for all the East Bloc defectors as well.

Those guys went to jail. Let me know when you can say the same about Corzine or any of the other banksters in bed with the Fed.

Detroit: the microcosm of BRA.

She lives in Livonia which according to FReeper geography is the deepest darkest hood.

I'm confused. Livonia is part of Detroit the way Westchester County is part of New York City, which is to say it isn't.

I don't have the story saved any more but this is 78 year old Willie White explaining to the news crew how he "de-porched" a thug with a shotgun after the thug kicked his door open while Willie was watching a Pistons game one night.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

He said he keeps his shotgun right there next to his chair and has another gun next to his bed.

10 to 1 you will find those Radios they were given in pawn shops in the near future.

I find your statement very disappointing on a site like this. These are people trapped in the city, unable to sell their worthless homes in order to move to the subs.

They're law abiding citizens doing what they can to protect their own and you have to make a disgusting statement like that.

If I wanted to make a stereotypical and biased statement like that about the state of Tennessee then all I'd have to mention is banjos and family reunions where the men go to pick up chicks.......

At least Detroiters have the option of arming themselves, and with the weapon of their choice, with the capacity of their choice.

Detroit is a cesspool. And I said nothing disgusting.
I have been through Detroit 3 times into Canada via Ambassador Bridge.
I know what Detroit is. And Detroit is disgusting. This Tennessee man
knows disgusting when he see’s it.

Yeah I’m finding that there are a lot of good people in Detroit. They may not be FReeper level conservatives but Detroit is not a wildly liberal city. These are people who don’t have a lot of hope and I’m more than willing to reach out with an empty but friendly hand. Basically I’m reminding them that we’re all Americans and I only want them to thrive for the good of the nation.

From where I sit, the people in places like Detroit (The plantation dwellers) are the truest victims of the democrat party and should be treated as such. We can’t drive them off the plantation with a whip, we’ve got to make them want freedom and want to take it for themselves.

This is where the GOP is really dropping the ball. They think that reaching out means giving them free stuff. What really needs to happen is policies that spur job creation for all without the racial or socioeconomic pandering.

Detroit did have a good revenue weekend this week with the Grand Prix and it was nice to see the big money out there calling for other businesses to come to Michigan and to Detroit.

Really.

The only person that loves Detroit is the Hard Core Pawn show guy because he’s making a fortune off the misery.

The place really is a toilet.

Here are some well known folks stepping up for Detroit.

http://www.madeindetroit.com/

You know where I stand on this. Detroit presents the greatest opportunity for conservatives to break the racial barrier since the civil war. The democrats have tossed them aside and left the single freest large city in the country.

I’ve seen Detroit up close and personal(with my vehicle doors locked)
and it’s not a pretty sight.

>Those guys went to jail. Let me know when you can say the same about Corzine or any of the other banksters in bed with the Fed.

Even more to the point, those companies went bye bye, and their shareholders were made to feel the pain. Many of those making the decisions were vested shareholders and felt direct pain for the mistakes they made.

I’d love to see when any bureaucrat or politician actually pays for the miserable failures they engender. This is especially true in the case of politicians since they have a knack for creating situations where you don’t see the damage done for a couple of election cycles. Think about Max Baucus who will retire with laudatory platitudes when in fact he’s done a mountain of damage with his party line votes.
