'Tea party' tempest brewing
LA Times ^ | June 2, 2013 | Doyle McManus

The movement is as fired up as ever — and just as unwilling to compromise. That could spell trouble for the Republican Party.

The "tea party" is back and is brewing trouble for the Republican establishment.

After the GOP debacle in the 2012 election, when Republicans not only failed to win the presidency but blew a chance to take over the Senate, party leaders paused to consider what had gone wrong.

The Republican National Committee issued a scathing report warning that the party was in "an ideological cul-de-sac" and resolved to act friendlier toward women, minorities and low-income voters. Strategist Karl Rove said the lesson was to nominate more moderate candidates and set about raising money to do just that.

But tea party and other conservative leaders, undaunted, drew the opposite conclusion.

"It was not conservatives" who lost those Senate races, 19 of them wrote in a joint attack against Rove's efforts. "Not one moderate challenger won." The solution, they argued, was to swing further right, not toward the center.

The tea party is as fired up as ever, even though the movement is smaller now than in its heyday of 2010. In one recent poll, only 22% of American voters said they considered themselves tea party supporters, down from 30% three years ago.

But the grass-roots small-government movement has proved...

--snip--

It spells trouble in the Senate, where the tea party's newest star, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), has brought old-guard GOP leaders to the edge of rage by publicly criticizing them as "a bunch of squishes." He and other tea party senators have succeeded in blocking House-Senate budget negotiations, charging that talks might lead to a deal to raise the federal debt ceiling, which they oppose.

"I don't trust the Republicans, and I don't trust the Democrats," Cruz said...

Cruz is right. With all of Obama's scandals, it's no time to yield to RINOs!

Of course, there is no way the la times is trying to splinter opposition to the ReBamaLosi agenda. No, that would be impossible.

Funny the LA Times didn’t mention the IRS deliberate illegal actions to throw the election, eh? I’m shocked.

The biggest Rino of all lost the Presidency and we are supposed to elect more? Maybe if we elected people with conviction we may actually win?

Pray for America to Wake Up

There needs to be a greater level of selectivity when Tea Party groups decide which candidates to support. Marco Rubio, for example, was a big recipient of Tea Party help back in 2010, and... well...

We’ve been attacked from both sides. I’m with my Senator (Cruz)...I don’t trust the Repubs, either.

Let me get this logic straight

Tea Party gets hyped up for 2010, and Republicans win big

Tea Party gets hyped up for 2014, and Republicans lose big

Media-logic fail.

The media and RINOs can’t handle the truth do they continue the lies: The RINOs indeed didn’t win not a single Senate seat by a challenger, the only person “deemed” electable in RINO Romney in beating Obama didn’t get elected. When the GOP pushed out the Tea Party in 2012, it was a disaster but when the Tea Party was in full force in 2010 without the GOP, it was a success! And for the 100th time, Akin in Missouri wasn’t a Tea Party candidate, he was more of the Mike Huckabee crowd

“After the GOP debacle in the 2012 election...”

Aided by the illegal federal targeting of conservative grass roots organizations. Doyle is a male body part.

[[The “tea party” is back and is brewing trouble for the Republican establishment.]]

Correction: The “tea party” is back and is brewing trouble for the RHINO establishment.”

The TRUE republicans are behind the tea party- it’s only the rhinos who walk lock step with the left that are afraid of the truth that the tea party exposes

True story- I darn near stepped on a wild turkey hiding in an open spot i nthe woods where the grass was tall- she was 2 feet from me, totally camoflaged, I never saw a thing till she burst forward, flew into the air, then landed abotu 20 feet awat runnign around me, clucking and acting liek her wing was broken so that I wouldn’t find the clutch of eggs she had been sittign on (I didn’t even look for them as I didn’t want to accidently step ion them0- but she didn’t know that)

She ran aroudn me tryign to fool me into thinkign she was hurt, that she woudl make an ‘easy target’ but she always kept her distance, every step I took towards her she woudl take 3 steps back- (just seeign how close I coudl get- meant her no harm- was just curious if she’d charge me as I had that happen two years ago)

Looking back, This is exactly how the GOP is acting- runnign aroudn pretendign to be soemthign they aren’t- attemptign to fool everyone, and NEVER lettign thsoe who don’t know any better get close enough to see that they are really faking- they make a LOT of noise, just liek my turkey friend today- tryign to distract from the real issues at hand- tryign to lure us away from our real goals- Sadly many fall for it-

I know Romney was a Rino...but I still don’t see how voting in Obama was better. I’ll never get that.

I haven’t given a dime to the RNC or any other national ‘R’ party since Bush sided with Fox against our minutemen (border security).

My grievances against the national party have increased tenfold since then.

If they are to starve, it will take more than my paltry withholding to do it. But I can rest well knowing I do not contribute to such travesty.
