The Internal Revenue Service has failed to turn over documents requested by the powerful Senate tax-writing panel, which is investigating the tax agency´s practice of targeting conservative organizations. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., and Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah, the panel´s top Republican, gave the IRS a May 31 deadline to answer dozens of questions related to the special scrutiny the agency was giving to right-leaning groups seeking tax-exempt status. But the troubled IRS let the deadline go by.

Lefties think this is all going to blow over.

There is blood in the water, and it's real blood, unlike Watergate.

Congress needs to issue a strongly worded request for those documents:

“Pretty Please with Sugar on it, won’t you send - if you have time - those documents? If you want to that is.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Seriously - I doubt anyone in Congress has enough cajones to run up against the IRS.
Obviously there are some senators who continue to retain illusions about their power relative to the IRS.
The IRS did not keep adequate records or receipts for the conferences, and nearly $200,000 in spending is unaccounted for.
That is so funny that it isin’t!
It's the new transparency.
As long as they're allowed to get away with it.
We live in interesting times.
They are too busy to be messing around with trivial political squabbling.
Also remember there were 7-8 democratic senators like Franken and other losers who actually and formally wrote the IRS requesting they target conservatives.
Now that the IRS has complied and is under fire - does anyone really think the Senate will give a damn?
The problem is, it's not being reported with any outrage, for the amount of blood it's hardly being reported at all.
I'll be surprised if it doesn't blow over within a month, and I hope I'm wrong.
