Truck Driver Nearly Beaten to Death By Police For Not Signing Traffic Ticket

A truck driver was beaten by a CHP cop because he refused to sign a traffic ticket before reading it. CHP initially charged him with DUI and driving over hours - both charges were later dropped.

Cops boss says citizens could avoid this if they will simply "comply" with orders when stopped.

Your signature is merely an agreement to appear in court so if you don’t sign it only means they can/cannot file a Failure to Appear if you do/don’t.

Well, technically if you don't sign, they can arrest you and take you in for booking. When you sign, you are promising to appear in court, so you are being released on your own recognizance. If you refuse to sign, you are essentially saying you may not show up in court, so they then have the option to book you and force you to post bond to insure that you show up.

“I went to court and he never showed up.”

Had this happen too. The only cops that show up are the ones ‘on the clock’ and getting paid for the time, that comes out of the time they would be on the street. If a cop is retired he would have to respond to the subpoena and accept the insulting payment.

The cop in our case has retired and was never served the subpoena. We were witnesses to the accident and had to drive an hour to this court under threats from the court if we didn’t show.

I contend one of the benefits to the ‘men of blue’ have their subpoenas lost once they retire. Just a courtesy of course.

Seven cops lost their jobs not long after this. We saw umpteen police cars at that girls house. They were being investigated for drugs and prostitution. She was arrested along with her mother and apparently she gave names. We laughed until we were to tired to laugh anymore. :)

I was happy to go to court that day. I showed the judge my accident report and the damage done to myself and the car. I had 147 staples in my spine from surgery and would not have driven fast even if I could. I told the judge that the officer had called me a bi*ch and that I told the cop he can shove his ticket. The judge actually laughed at that and the fact that my son had thrown-up on him. The judge apologized and told me to go home and have a nice day.

I was not going to let this officer lie and get away with it.

Reminds me of a song.

As time passes and more and more government employees take up the socialist poison that is our government now, hiring and training decisions are made by statist criminals. The police are increasingly the muscle of the fascist state. ten or twenty years ago I was a big supporter of the police. My eyes are now open. I do not trust the police and I don’t recommend anyone else trust them either. When the SHTF, they will be the ones to drag you in.

That’s attempted murder.

I didn’t think the USA was that far along in its headlong rush to fascism.

Remember the “land of the free” bull$h!t? That’s all it is bull$h!t.

The cop looks like a SS agent.

I will not sing The National Anthem and won’t stand up for it because I no longer believe we are “the land of the free”.

Nor do I pledge allegiance to the State.

I have no doubt this officer and an another were out of control and in my mind committed several felonies.

That said, I have also never, ever encountered an officer who wouldn’t help me understand a ticket they just wrote and have never met one who wouldn’t allow me to read my ticket before signing their legal and lawful summons, which I am required to answer by bail, fine or request of hearing.

I get 1 or 2 a year for speeding on our great highways so I’ve racked up a few tickets over 35 years of driving.

Even the most aggressive jerks that I can recall always helped me when I didn’t understand what was on my ticket. In fact , even they were overly helpful in explaining what is on my ticket and what the codes mean they write on my ticket.

Even that sawed midget who wrote me a ticket in the porches last year, who was being berated by my passenger, was restrained and helped me understand what he wrote on my ticket when I didn’t see a piece of information I expected to see.

Now, I’ve seen this story several times and from what I understand that officer has several complaints against him for just what is alleged in this man’s complaint and that division also has many, many complaints against a few other officers.

As someone who snowboards and regularly drives the same route I’ve heard stories over the years about what aggressive dicks the officers are between Tahoe and Grass Valley.

I’ve yet to get a ticket on that road but, I slow through that are, as I am very aware of the very aggressive tactics used such as hiding behind objects and on the ramps beginning the entrance to the highway . In my mind they constitute a speed trap and are indicative of bad attitude copswwho don’t feel they have play fair or operate completely within the law .

When you regularly see something like this one has to conclude there is command problem with in at least that office, as it is quite clear the emphasis is on revenue and being a visible deterrent to speeders and unsafedriving while looking for real crime and in general helping the public at large.

Oh sure, they will tell you they are doing a public service and keeping the roads, with the number of tickets being written as their measurement of success.

I could argue against that as it’s clear there is at a minimum an implied quota, particularly on the weekends.

This office needs to be investigated from it’s leadership on down and cleaned up before someone gets hurt bad./s

Any cop willing to file obviously false charges like that should be sent up for perjury.

You are absolutely right. I have really considered this, too. When I saw the youtube video, the CHP chief was basically defending his officer. No, he didn’t know how this man ended up in a trauma unit BUT it is under investigation/litigation blah, blah, blah. I’ll be honest with you, TalonDJ... I drive, my husband drives, my 17 year old is about to take his driving test and it scares the heck out of me. It really does. Law abiding citizens should NOT worry about some rogue officer that will taze you, beat you or ultimately end your life because they are having a bad day and feel good about beating someone. Hugs, Mom

Along the 4 million miles I’ve logged, I’ve seen good cops, nice cops a-hole cops and just plain evil cops, that being said before the eastern european and mexican invasion of this country, the quality of drivers was in a completely different level.

I haven’t given the CHP a reason to pull me over in about 15 years so they may be different than I remember but the inspectors that I deal with infrequently at scale houses are rigid but far from intolerable.

The transplant drivers I see daily continually make me want to wind up a bat to the temple. Most have no consideration for anyone else and the level of arrogance is absolutely unbelievable, so I may not be the right person to ask to toot this gestapo horn here.

Sad that it happened but this is a Paul Harvey tale, there’s a rest of the story here...

Thanks Tuber...
