John Zawahri lays dead on the sidewalk after shooting people and killing his own father and brother on Friday. (RYOT)
Zawahri had mental issues as a juvenile. Authorities kept his name from the public for several hours.
The LA Times reported:
The suspect was identified by five law enforcement sources in Washington and Los Angeles as John Zawahri, in his 20s.
Other sources with knowledge of the investigation said detectives believe the shooting was sparked by a family dispute of some kind but emphasized that the investigation was still in its early stages.
The suspect’s past mental health issues occurred when he was juvenile, the law enforcement source said, but no further details were offered....

Hours ago I saw something online saying he was Lebanese. He might very well be a Christian rather than a Muslim.
If I were covering this tragedy this is what I have done.

Meds and diagnosis, any report of premature release.
If there’s an Eastern rite church in the area check with them, probably a drop out. Christian first names a no no for muzzies.
Weapon used if stolen important part of story.

No problem..and Im thinking that is why the police took so long to ID him..ABC 7 has already identified him as John Zawahri and today would have been his 24th birthday..strange because the next door neighbor of the mother said that Christopher was the strange one and that he lived with her

From what the neighbor said Chris was the one that lived with Mom, that is what was so confusing..Chris lived with his mother and John lived with his father..the neighbor said that Chris was the weird one, would howl like a dog and scream at his mother..never left the apartment..now apparently its John who was the shooter since today was his birthday and it matches up

Well that's not very "Love thy neighbor" or "Thou shalt not kill" of him. It's the action of a poor Christian, or a good moslem.
When the ABC 7 reporter a little while ago said the gunman’s name, she said his last name very quickly and tried to make it sound as American as possible..and yes your absolutely right, whenever you hear about marital problems or how “He didn’t fit in” you can pretty much guarantee the suspect is Muslim..but in this case I dont believe the gunman was a Muslim, not with a name like John and Christopher, sounds like they were Lebanese Christians
More than likely, he isn't.
Reportedly, the family is Jordanian / Lebanese and belongs to the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church.
Also, the father is a silent key, N6KXL.
The Zawahri family is Jordanian Christian. I’ve met some of them from Ohio. This family is indeed related to the ones in Ohio.
