Two puzzling photos that do not bear close scrutiny were published in 2010 on the mybarackobama.com campaign website, adding further mystery to the man who left surprisingly few documented footprints in the sands of time as he came to adulthood.

I vote for a setup, too, and we completely agree on that. As for the shadow, I've seen odder things. IMHO it is not out of the question. But even if is manipulated what exactly does that prove? That Obama has been placed into a picture with his mother? So what?
Your comment only bolsters the theory that the fisted hand coming from Ann ISN'T HERS. Notice the sun is at the left, therefore, Ann's hand should definitely be lighter than 0bama's grandfather's hand!!! His arm is in deep shadow area relative to direction of sunlight. Why is her 'fist' darker? Not possible unless that hand is a black person's hand, WHICH IT CLEARLY IS.
I don’t think the boy in that photo is Obama. First of all his lips aren’t purple, nor are they the same shape as now. I don’t think any of the photos of him as a child look like him.

Not to be picky, but in the interest of accuracy, the show was actually named “V”. Too bad this remake only lasted two seasons.

I also said in another comment, so what? What possible conspiratorial benefit can derive from releasing a photo like that? And if it is manipulated, it is a lousy job. I am still betting on it being shadow and/or it being deliberately doctored to get us chasing our tails.
Unfortunately I am forced to live with a relative that is a flaming Obot. Progressive radio is on 24/7. It’s amazing the complete B(arbra) S(tresand) I hear from: Shultz, Randi (a conservative beat me up but really I tripped on the sidewalk) Rhodes, Stephanie whatever. The misinformation and outright lies they spew. It’s revolting, yet my relative lives it (except you can’t have HERS, everyone else’s money and stuff is to be redistributed). When I mention Gosnell the murdering abortionist, immediate response is about “all the abortion Doctors that have been killed by right wingers”. I feel like banging my head against the wall. These type of people, they will never admit Barry and Co are wrong. They will go down with the ship. I’ve never seen anything like it.

closely at it, looking for artifacts on boarders, I find it difficult to simulate the jpg edge mottling, for example— found nothing.
But step back from gramps and bam and look at the postures.
Why is ‘bams left hand where it is? This is not an affectionate melding of bodies; remove ‘bam and the bodies fit perfectly.
Good question. (1) To get us to chase our tails, (2) To fill in a gap of a lack of family pictures.

Aside from the tone of the hand being darker than expected there is nothing unnatural about the light source. The image remains too small to sufficiently tell.
And yeah, if I can avoid being too snarky, so what? What does a picture of Obama with his mother prove? By itself, nothing.
But if we prefer to take a more conspiratorial approach we could say it is clearly not Obama because a. he doesn't have his Panama hat on, or b. there are no golf clubs in the picture which would certainly be the case if he was on vacation in the days prior to Secret Service caddies when he would have had to carry them himself.

One theory has it that the original photographs had his grandparents from the father’s side, that is Frank Marshall Davis’ parents, and they were replaced in the digitized photos by his cracker grandparents.
My relative is deluded. As long as the Govt. money roles in and she’s not stolen from, it’s all fair. There is no logic nor reasoning. I tried to get her to follow the logic through and it’s hopeless. She says that he’s the best, smartest President ever. That dummy Ed Schultz had some Obot on that flat out lied and said that the IRS wasn’t going to be used to enforce obarry care. All I hear is “republicans, republicans, republicans.....”, and I am accused of being a “right winger that’s brainwashed”. I have never seen anything like this worship of “the One”. It truly is scary.
Another theory that I’ve heard somewhere carbon dated these photographs and concluded that they could not have taken place because Obamugabe was in Moscow undergoing KGB training at the time.
