then they’re friggin idiots because one with a a 4th amendment and second instead of attacking the leaker then maybe they should attack a Govt spying on us all and getting an enemy list.

Oh yea it’s to save us all from terrorists, stupid party and the Dems want their own power and tell people we’re trying to keep you safe crap.

As for going to court then that is plain a cop out as when the govt goes to court then the court only hears one side and judges placed by who?

It’s a talking point by elitist by the stupid party and the Dem party who think all of us are stupid

Some statements from the NSA must make your efforts to defend them difficult:

Emmel, the NSA spokeswoman, told the Guardian: "Current technology simply does not permit us to positively identify all of the persons or locations associated with a given communication (for example, it may be possible to say with certainty that a communication traversed a particular path within the internet. It is harder to know the ultimate source or destination, or more particularly the identity of the person represented by the TO:, FROM: or CC: field of an e-mail address or the abstraction of an IP address).

Source

Basically the NSA is arguing that since they can't be 100% sure of the actual person reading email addressed to that person, then they aren't invading the privacy of that person. Such an argument would be laughed at in any court of law.

There are no doubt plenty of areas that require attention and correction. I will not vilify the NSA, however — which is not to say I’m endorsing the exposure of privacy.

The threats exist. They must be identified. Something should be done to isolate identities requiring warrants for exposure. Since Congress is a complete failure on this matter, a private sector consortium should be established to help balance the concerns of privacy with security.

It's a Pew poll, that's all you need to know. They've been very open in the past about producing fraudulent polling to drive certain issues, so thye have little credibility.

Pew should have personalized this poll and asked these individuals polled if they would give the govt the key to their house key, access to personal and legal files and passwords to their technology to prevent potential terrorism.
I’m sure the numbers will be the same/s

There is certainly an important and legitimate role for intelligence gathering. However it appears the NSA has gone beyond the type of data collection which is appropriate, and that is likely in the long run to damage our security more than the value of the information they sought to gather.

The point of my post was to show exactly how bad the situation is. If the NSA is sending out spokespeople who think that the public will buy the idea that even though they have the IP addresses, From: and To: fields of an email they don't know the identity of the parties, they have deeply flawed thinking. Telling lies to the electorate won't save their budget.

It is time we realize that pollsters are just as susceptible to fraud, blackmail, corruption and payoffs as journalists are, which is what REALLY needs to be investigated before this country can begin to move forward.

Interesting that all this data collection in the interest of National Security did not stop the Boston Marathon bombing.

Believe it. Look at all the NEOconservatives who say Snowden should be arrested and prosecuted.

Mikey Medved was madder than a wet henhawk yesterday. David Brooks is his predictable fascist self. I can just imagine what the ladies @ WEEKLY STANDARD are saying. But, I don't hear a lot of mainstream conservatives siding with the state.

This is a pretty good litmus test. And a good opportunity to bury Bushism once and for all.
