I never experienced a ramp check. But, if this had happened to me, that's all they would get: my logbook, registration, and pilot's license.

No law enforcement officer would be searching my airplane, home, or vehicle without a warrant. If they don't have one and forcibly do so without my permission, my lawyer will make their life a living hell.

I'll let them explain it to a judge, and when he slaps them down, I'll be able to retire in style.

“my logbook, “

I’m a private pilot so that stays home. No need to have some jackass try to screw with its entries. There is just too many things they can try to screw with in there.

I’ve never been ramped checked but only the mandatory paperwork can be checked. The plane stays locked until the idiot leaves.

1st time I ever flew a plane I went to Indiantown Airport where in the “pilots lounge” there was a poster stating the 10 biggest LIES you’ll ever hear in Aviation.
#1 Hi, I’m from the F.A.A. and I’m hear to help.

It’s been a long time, but I remember the Coast Guard asserting that they had the right to board and search any vessel in the navigable waters of the U.S. at any time, day or night, without warrant or consent.

No ramp check here, so far.
But like Mr. Dylan said, “ The times they are a changing.

My copy of the Constitution says nothing about allowing the Feds to run an Aviation Administration of any stripe.

Privatize it and run it like an IEEE consortium.

This jackbooted bullshite needs to end. May as well start here.

Title 14 United States Code, Section 89 cites the Coast Guard authority. I would not be surprised to see an equivalent federal aw for the F.A.A.

Yes, they do. They claim they have the right to board all vessels. I’ve always had a problem with that. They claim “safety inspection” rights.

We need an ATC but the FAA has been proving themselves for many years to be a problem.

Like the “internal passports” of the former Soviet Union, you will have to get government permission and “show your papers” to travel more than one hundred miles from your home.

Prior to the September 11th terrorist attacks, the Coast Guard was part of the Department of Transportation.

Now, they’re part of the Department of Homeland Security. No wonder they like to throw their weight around.

IIRC...

The FAA can only search and aircraft for compliance with applicable maintenance, operational limitations and flight regulations.

The only way to stop people from growing a house plant that can be sold for more than its weight in gold is to install a 24/7 full surveillance police state.
