SANFORD -- The following 29 potential jurors in the George Zimmerman trial for the shooting death of Trayvon Martin were identified by number by Judge Debra Nelson on Friday, June 14, 2013, as being retained for traditional voir dire questioning.
Lawyers are seeking a pool of 40 before moving on to the next round of questioning. Six jurors and four alternates are needed for trial.
NOTE: Listed ages and races are estimates based on what reporters in the courtroom have perceived.

I think FL does jury selection by driver license.
You’d think they’d still require a juror to be a citizen.

and none of them have heard anything about this case and never listen to the news and have seen no pictures and have no feelings or opinions one way or the other.
They are totally neutral.

I’m surprised the deliberation took as long as it did, with only THREE honkies to browbeat into submission!

Is that a Florida thing? It seems that 12-man juries are commonplace for criminal trials, some places.
Uninformed? Let’s add this up. A declining population who read newspapers of any type. At least a third of the American population will listen to radio stations only if there’s actual music....they don’t care for politics, news or sports.
The Florida population? If you are over sixty and retired...it’s good odds that you moved there, and have little of a connection to the local news or crime stuff. You are enjoying the last ten to twenty years of your life and don’t care to stress yourself on anything but Florida sunshine and hobbies.
Finally, a lot of people work hard, and don’t care to come home to get two hours of point-blank political analysis or gut-wrenching news. They flip on the TV to watch an hour of the Andy Griffith Show, and then maybe catch a basketball game or John Wayne in The Searchers.
If you ask me....these people are very likely to support Zimmerman in the end. The innocent kid’s story just won’t ring true with them.

She wanted a jury of black women thinking that they would sympathize with Nicole. Was she ever wrong. Skin pigment is thicker than hormones as Oprah Winfrey saw first hand as well.
In Florida it is. If it’s Murder 1 where you face the death penalty you get 12. Murder 2 — only 6.
