LINDSEY GRAHAM: Republicans Are In A 'Demographic Death Spiral,'
Business Insider ^ | 06/16/2013 | Brett Logiurato

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is bullish about the chances of an immigration reform bill passing the Senate — and he says Republicans need to pass it to avoid falling further into a "demographic death spiral" that could hurt their chances in the next two big election cycles.

"If we don't pass immigration reform, if we don't get it off the table in a reasonable, practical way, it doesn't matter who you run in 2016," Graham said on NBC's "Meet the Press" Sunday.

America is in a death spiral.

I agree. Separation may be our only hope.

Graham's foolish comments were the last straw. This Arizona Republican just digitally changed his party registration to Independent.

A while back, we needed amnesty to save Social Security.

Jeb: We need amnesty because illegals are fertile and are the only ones capable of developing new businesses.

Rubio: We need amnesty so illegals can pay for border security.

Graham: We need amnesty so the GOP can win the presidency in 2016.

==

Of course, they deny that amnesty is amnesty and they keep trying to fancy it up. It was regularization a while back. Now it is legalization.

No matter what they call it, it is still amnesty.

==

Graham is more of what is wrong with the current GOP than what is right with it.

So, LG states that if we don’t pass legislation forgiving illegals and making them regular voting and service-receiving citizens, the R party won’t win the Presidency in 2016. Well, that is a rather odd prediction—wouldn’t it be more logical, given the history of the 1986 amnesty, that if this 2013 legislation is passed, the R party won’t win the Presidency in 2016 or ever again? Generally speaking, if you are digging your party a hole based on failed immigration legislation in 1965 and 1987, it might be a good idea to first stop digging. Stop paying people to enter the US illegally, stop allowing people to enter the US illegally, stop forgiving and rewarding people for criminal behavior. As for immigration reform, alter the policies so people who strive to succeed, learn the value of the free and Constitutional US system, and who have the ability to be a net positive to the US are those who are exclusively eligible to join the US citizenry. Otherwise, the R party at a minimum is no longer viable at the national level and will fairly quickly fade at the state level.
I honestly believe it is better to join and pressure the Dem party to pursue rational policies at this point than trying to communicate with the R party—they seem hopelessly unable to look at demographic trends and either seek to change them or adapt to them in a winning way. As it is going, the R party is rejecting their traditional core voters—the hard working, sane values Americans who created a great nation out of a wilderness, and are falling all over themselves to make idiotic gestures toward voters who will never vote for R’s and are not even legal voters yet. Note that the Dem party never rejects core voters no matter how irrational and un-American those voters; the Dems even strive to be more goofy—but with R help, the Dems will take the greatest nation on earth and remodel it to look like an old-style South American dictatorship.

On what evidence does LG base his beliefs? Is that evidence of success so certain that he is willing to take the downside risk of a socialist, impoverished US with one-party rule?

My father was an American born Hispanic. My mother is Anglo Saxon - typical WASP. Now why would I want my country ruined to import lower echelon hoards from my father’s ancestor’s country??? Answer - I DON’T.

Can’t figure out why the GOP can’t make the case that amnesty isn’t good for any American whatever their ancestry.

Pass amnesty and save your money as you will NEVER see a Republican elected to anything, including dog catcher, ever again. Look at California if you think I am wrong. He is absolutely delusional or more likely just in bed with the Marxists.

Rick Snyder likes to promote the fantasy of immigrants starting businesses too. He likes to point to Henry Dow who started Dow Chemicals as an immigrant success story. The problem is that it wasn’t quite as simple as a starry eyed immigrant making millions in his first year.

The real story is that Dow was born to American parents in Canada and moved here six weeks after Henry’s birth. Dow’s father then invented some sort of steam engine that the Navy bought so I doubt they were destitute.

Long story short, Dow was here for nearly 30 years before founding his company in 1895. He and his family paid their own way and Dow didn’t face nearly the taxation and regulation we face today as he started his company.

Hispanics did not cross over when Reagan granted amnesty. In fact,
“read my lips, no new taxes” Papa Bush got less Hispanic vote...after
amnesty.

There may be Hope Johnny. I’m down to about 5 mental giants on FR regularly calling me the antichrist over the lesser evil thing.

I think many people, though not publicly saying so, have finally realized that lesser evil got us this mess to begin with.

I can’t/wouldn’t take credit. I’d like to think that they got over the fear of “Democrats are worse” via good old American common sense once reality smacked them in the face hard enough.

The Lord Lindsays and Bhoners of the world can only be ignored for so long.

Indeed, conservative will say home by the millions if this amnesty passes.

They, the usurpers, are counting on it. Staying home does nothing to advance one's ideals.
