Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, who has tried to curb soda consumption, ban smoking in parks and encourage bike riding, is taking on a new cause: requiring New Yorkers to separate their food scraps for composting.

The guy really is nuts. Why does he want to control every aspect of everyone’s life?

This guy is demented.

Worrying about ridiculous things like this when people are dropping like flies of late by gunfire.

Why does he (Bloomburg) want to control every aspect of everyone's life?

Because he knows what's best for us. (sarcasm)

Is there anything Bloomberg isn't meddling in?

Well, yes. The socialism and communism of America does not concern him. The police-state NSA eavesdropping worries him not a whit. He could care less about urban mob violence directed against whites. The horrific US debt-to-income ratio troubles him not. He does not care about the administration running guns to Mexican drug cartels. Talk about Obama stepping on the Constitution troubles him not.

So I guess Bloomberg DOES stay out of certain matters. I stand corrected.

What about all that nasty carbon based methane gas that composting produces?

"Let’s just say that Mayor Bloomberg has “lost it”."

I don't know that he ever "had" it, at least when it comes to governing. Bloomie had one good business idea, once. He's has had an awful lot of bad ideas since then.

I’m sure Bloomie composts every scrap of food he throws out whenever he’s staying at his estate in Bermuda: http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2010/04/bloomberg.html

Composting in what back yards? What about the high rise apartment buildings? How does this work? Does he just want the rats fed? This makes no sense. When I think of him I think of this song: They're coming to take me away ho ho he he ha ha....to the funny farm.....they better come soon for him.

This is already happening in England. There are towns where the local council is requiring upwards of 7 or 8 bins- and heaven help you if you sort things into the wrong container. Fines and no trash pick up til you sort it properly. Makes you wonder why Bloomberg doesn’t just emigrate....

Here's my (now closed) Family Farm's compost pile (2 employees for scale on size) of 5-6,000 tons. Food composting is a LOT different than garden/field waste & green debris composting. Doing that indoors is NUTZ! Composting requires full sun (heat) to get temps up to 150°F+ to kill bacteria, or you'll have a stinky, very unsanitary mess in the apartment's storage bins. Also, bones, meat & some other food scraps etc don't compost; they just draw rats.

He needs a legacy and in the echo chamber he lives his worshipers tell him he's
always right, because they want his money. So he most likely believes he's doing
the right thing and monuments will be built in his honor after he's dead.

I have no idea what the guy has accomplished in his life.
Don't really care either.

Some suggestions for Bloomberg:

Require separate toilets for each bodily function.

Require New Yorkers pray towards Gracie Mansion six (which is one more than five) times a day.

Outlaw pig Latin as anti-Semitic.

New York light fixtures must be replaced with ones where the bulbs screw in counterclockwise.

Water heaters must have a maximum temperature of 98.5 degrees.

No dogs over 20 pounds.

All New York phone calls must be routed to the NYPD instead of the NSA.

Dogs may only play canasta or bridge in artwork in New York.

Any television shows broadcast in New York must be redubbed if they say people are standing “in line” rather than proper New Yorkese “on line”.
