The reason they are interested isn’t political, I assure you, to them it’s just another game they’re watching because one of their’s is a player....Oh they will learn, but we aren’t going to like what they learn...There will be more Snowdens ahead for this..and those who could care about this country or it’s people.

Just go on any tech site where they hang out...they want to know HOW he did this not what he has to say.

“There will be more Snowdens”

Ever since I learned his name, I think, “There, there,” or “ou sont les Snowdens d’antan.”

This is just a question - I do not mean to be hostile: Does our NSA have any business spying on civilians in other countries (say, Germany) if it is not pretty clear that those persons are not a terrorist (or similar) threat? That is how I interpreted some of what Snowden was saying.

You see, if a U.S. company, say, 3M, wants to spy on, say, BASF, I see that as a lot different than if our NSA is spying on BASF for any reason not involving a clear national security concern. Personally, I think it is a very "American" thing to be concerned about U.S. gov't agencies spying on ANY civilian who is not harming us outside of normal economic competition. (Military research is another matter.)

All that said, Snowden's comments are not completely consistent, as one might expect from someone not a professional pol or debater & not working off a "script". He says he's doing this because he's an American concerned for his country, and that his country is worth dying for (despite it coming after him, now.) One can believe him or not...

Yes...I’m familiar with that movie.

I have looked deep enough at this guy and his responses, and what he has stated to know this is NOT playing out the way he foolishly intended....and now he thinks he’s still in control. .... He’s not.

It’s pretty much guaranteed those “things” are not just in his head. Likely they are on a bunch of big-capacity SD cards distributed to multiple “safe” hands.

sitting in Communist Country spilling our intellegence to the world...which is what he is doing.

So... if it's already known, what's the big deal?

Snowden HAS to keep this in the news cycle / has to keep the heat on, or it will die, just like Benghazi, Fast and Furious - shall I go on?

When it comes to discrediting the Obama Administration goes, I'm hoping for more, not less. You?

As for the other, I see. It is ok for YOU to distrust this gov't, but not for someone else to provide facts about wrongdoings to other citizens who might then distrust the gov't. Got it.

Well, I was watching / reading the chat live, and some of the answers sure didn’t read to me like he had a lawyer advising. But they DID sound to me like the same person on the youtube vid. Granted, that is a personal judgement.

Others have addressed “why HK?” well. It was a sensible choice. And HK is not quite what you’ve made it out to be — it is indeed, an interesting “in-between”, where if he did decide to sell out to stay alive, he could do so.

As for other avenues, that sure worked out well for William Binney, in terms of getting heard, or any wrongs righted. /s

That’s because you are going to TECH sites, for God’s sake. What would you expect??? Still, the longer the discussion goes on, there, the more some of these youngsters may begin to worry about their own privacy. You know some of them have reason...

However, I’m more interested in the increasing number of disillusioned Obama voters I’m seeing in other venues. This is even beginning to show up in polls. No, it’s not a wave, but that’s exactly why Snowden has to keep this wind blowing a good while.

"this is NOT playing out the way he foolishly intended"

Which was?

Seems to me he was looking at a pretty grim future & knew he'd lost almost everything he had.

Oh come on!...are you admitting you don't know the political ramifications of sitting in a Communist Country..on top of stolen intelligence from our National Security Base... and blasting it over the entire world is not an issue for you??????...

Further...that this is from a 29 year old who hasn't a clue what's being negotiated or dealt with Internationally between nations, nor 'the ability' to determine what is harmful or not to those discussions?????

Did you ever think perhaps getting the American people to doubt and question our National Security Protections could very well put us in the position to loose this nation??? They already doubt the leadership?...you attack the credibility and security of a nation and you can take it!

So I'm not playing Snowdens game of tit for tat...he's on the wrong side no matter what he says about "protecting the People"..... If that were true he wouldn't be sitting in a Communist Land trying to pull the wool over dumb downed Americans eyes on why he's there.... But alas...we have become so used to being played ...this doesn't surprise me in the least. Snowdens enjoying the show...you can count on it!..and his moment of being King.

Don’t patronize me...I’m thorough when I look into something that is important to me and how I determine the truth about it....and yes I wanted to know what the youth were saying...both on campuses and the tech sites and other areas they gather....what do you expect...I go to the local governors office and see what they’re saying?

I have concerns for the young people today that are not getting the truth..and further they are robots flitting from one device to another and cannot be detached for a moment. They are being spoon fed constantly...and Snowdens just another long line of those feeding them.

I don’t care if Obama supporters are disillusioned or not...TOO LATE...they put him in office...and that a second time..and now they want to squawk because some 29 year old techy tells them their Gov. spies on them?.. Give me a break!

That’s odd. I went to the site to try and read through and my mouse, keyboard and everything stopped working. I had to do a hard restart.

You still have not specified just exactly what it is that has come out that is so damaging if everybody already knew all about it. If you've read William Binney's interviews, and he after all was a top dog at NSA, he debunks this "damage" theory thoroughly: "When you ask how much damage these leaks have done to our capability, they’ve actually done absolutely nothing."

Political ramifications? Most of them matter little, in the long run. The Chinese can call us hypocrites. Yeah, that will change the world. /s I'm more worried about our 4th Amendment, thank you.

Now, maybe Snowden has information that really is damaging to the country - he does essentially make the "threat" that if something happens to him, more will come out. But not all information damaging to the present gov't or individuals in it is necessarily damaging to the USA, especially in the long run. Given what Snowden has NOT released, and the fact that he has not disappeared with the help of China, I see no evidence that he intends harm to this country. My biggest worry would be that the Chinese might try to grab him and break him, but that's a VERY risky move for them, especially since he might not have any truly "big" information to make the risk pay off.

As far as I'm concerned, the threat from this Administration is greater than whether or not some G8 negotiation gets ruffled. It's not like the G8 will decide to nuke North Korea, or even meaningfully curtail Iran. Putin is not going to give up Syria. Even then, 99% of what's supposedly decided at these things has been worked out by lower level diplomats in advance.

Further, not only has Obama shot any credibility we might have had long before Snowden came along, there is no way that "getting the American people to doubt or question" what the NSA is doing presently is going to "lose this country" to some outside entity. If you think that, you have no idea what the true strengths of this country are. So, to be honest, I don't have to think about it 10 seconds - your premise is ludicrous on it's face. But if you think I am wrong, please do explain, in detail, just how it is that we will be taken over from without because ordinary U.S. citizens decide that they don't like being spied on!

Finally... At what point SHOULD we doubt? It seems to me we passed it some time ago.

Ok hear it is and if we all just wait the whole thing will be exposed for what it all is....

Cruz said not to jump to conclusions on the NSA...

...Obama used the mega trolling to gather data to win the election...he didn’t need personal data, (as we are now in such a hype about)..that could be obtained thru Driver’s license and other venues we offer freely daily. He wanted the mega data and used the NSA to obtain it to win the election.

Further...the Arizona scotus decision today was not a loss as we supposed, there’s a thread on it going now...... the left lost for states now can determine certain forms to be used that “REQUIRE” proof of citizenship in order to vote...rather than federal forms.

additionally we all were surprised when Obamas media co-hurts were jumping with us on the NSA issue...but they were simply protecting Obama and otherwise diverting the public from looking closer at Obamas USE OF THE NSA for his election. It worked....everybody is all caught up in what the Government knows about us...while Obama slithers away to his african vacation.

Meanwhile we have Snowden...a strong Obama “Supporter” and he said as much...pointing the finger at the NSA entirely. Getting everybodies pants in a knot of what the Government knows about us when we all knew they knew anyway... set him up to gain traction on this NSA hype and feed it til we’re crying for more....thus the blame is on who?

Not Obama and his winning election by fraud...not that he used the NSA to win the election...and not that he’s being protected yet again by the media.....no... Snowdens got us all pointing the finger where Obama wants it...it’s the NSA that’s deceiving the people....and it’s all about how we’re being spied on when in fact it’s Obama who has been the reason this is all coming down.

Evidently you are seeing different evidence. I look at (mostly) mainstream discussion boards that typically run left of center, but not hard left (ie., I consider DU hard left). Especially I look at boards where I “know” some of the contributors to some degree. In recent weeks the tone of the discussion has changed dramatically. Yes, on the larger forums once a discussion has been going for a while, “someone” sends in the Obama trolls, but typically, in the first few hours of a discussion, or following “developments” in the topic, the comments are heavily anti-Obama/NSA/IRS (etc.)

Granted that what both of us are seeing is anecdotal in a sense, but Obama’s poll support HAS slipped significantly since these revelations (IRS & Snowden) came out, and that is no accident. The Snowden affair even generated TWO questions in the Miss USA contest last night, and no matter that the Michelle Obama adorer, of all people, gave an almost correct and coherent answer, while the other contestant looked like a complete idiot: Simply the fact that these issues have climbed to that level of awareness is a positive sign.

Now, if you say a tough question about Benghazi would have been even better, I’m with you, but I’ll take what I can.

On the other hand, I totally disagree with your “not caring” if Obama supporters are disillusioned. That’s the best news we could have as the 2014 elections approach.

It’d be funny if he just went to Mexico and snuck across the border to the U.S. and lived as an illegal alien here all the while, the gov’t thinks he’s in China.
