It is understood that a contingency plan is in place for the unlikely event that an attempt would be made on the President’s life.
The Secret Service also have diplomatic immunity which will allow them to shoot to kill a would-be assassin without fear of prosecution.
As part of the “evacuation route” plan, they would be able to spirit the President by chopper to one of the carriers where a jet is on standby to take him back to the United States.
A source said: “It sounds like James Bond stuff but the Americans treat the personal protection of their President with the utmost seriousness.

When Bush went to Normandy to meet with our allies and commemorate the invasion and our dead who are buried there, he mingled with the crowds, and waited in line to use a porta-potty. Sure, he had Secret Service protection, but nothing like the vast numbers who accompany our Dear Leader everywhere.
When Zero went to Normandy after complaints that he had ignored it, he demanded that the entire area should be closed to the public while he was in the neighborhood.
And this year, he didn’t bother to mention the anniversary.

IINM, when BJ Klintoon made speeches at US Military events, he had them all disarmed; either firearms collected and stored by SS, or mags and ammo removed and collected, until after he left. Wish I could find the article which revealed it.

In my twenties I guarded President Reagan and Vice President Bush when they travelled to Des Moines while working as a civilian policeman at the Air National Guard base. There was nothing even resembling this amount of security. Mr. Bush was there almost once a week in 1987 (he was running for president) and I was within arms length of him many times. We dispatched the cars to the Secret Service, as well. We carried real M-16s (not an AR-15s) and S&W .38 revolvers.

And he took wifie and kids to the summit, too so this is costing us a lot more than we think.
