“Insider Threat Program”: How the White House is keeping federal workers quiet (YIKES!)
Hot Air ^ | June 21,2013

Posted on 06/21/2013 6:41:30 AM PDT by SE Mom

President Barack Obama’s unprecedented initiative, known as the Insider Threat Program, is sweeping in its reach. It has received scant public attention even though it extends beyond the U.S. national security bureaucracies to most federal departments and agencies nationwide, including the Peace Corps, the Social Security Administration and the Education and Agriculture departments. It emphasizes leaks of classified material, but catchall definitions of “insider threat” give agencies latitude to pursue and penalize a range of other conduct.

Government documents reviewed by McClatchy illustrate how some agencies are using that latitude to pursue unauthorized disclosures of any information, not just classified material. They also show how millions of federal employees and contractors must watch for “high-risk persons or behaviors” among co-workers and could face penalties, including criminal charges, for failing to report them. Leaks to the media are equated with espionage.

“Hammer this fact home . . . leaking is tantamount to aiding the enemies of the United States,” says a June 1, 2012, Defense Department strategy for the program that was obtained by McClatchy.

The real story of “1984” snip

All Party members were constantly snooping & reporting on each other and no one could trust anyone, even their lover. The proles are useful, so they are allowed every vice. The more proles, the more justification for hardship. The more hardship, the more people will do anything for a crumb of favor.

______________

Farenheit 451 comes to mind as well - snitching who had books.

and in the tv series Amerika in video 8 the “exiles” were attacked.

Amerika 08 (of 13)

AMEN to everything you said.
I’ve become so cynical to our leadership in both parties. They’ve all sold us down the river into slavery.

I can’t speak for anyone else but I don’t doubt this kind of thing has always gone on. What’s changed is that we are learning about it all at once and getting a clearer picture of the damage and ugliness.

For a long time I was fixated on terrorism - 9/11 changed me utterly. But the more I’ve discovered since then the less trust I’ve had in the ability of my government to protect me from “enemies, both foreign and domestic”.

I don’t care so much which party is responsible- I care that NO ONE IS DOING ANYTHING TO STOP IT.

Another good one is the BBC series that came out
in 2008. I remember watching it and thinking all of it would be possible soon, but thankful it wasn’t in place yet, and fearing Obama’s election. Little did I know it pretty much was in place already, and would soon be ratcheted up several hundred notches.

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/masterpiece/lastenemy/index.html

Stephen Ezard (Benedict Cumberbatch, Atonement) returns to London to mourn the loss of his brother, Michael, and enters a society now obsessed with surveillance. Searching to make sense of Michael’s death, Stephen uncovers secrets about his brother’s life — including a wife he never knew Michael had. Taking a government job to trace leads through a powerful new database, Stephen exposes troubling revelations and soon finds himself stalked by a rogue agent (Robert Carlyle, The Full Monty). But when Stephen stumbles into an international conspiracy, he realizes that the omnipresent and menacing eye of the government has turned on him. Scripted by Peter Berry (Prime Suspect 6), The Last Enemy offers a frenetic ride through the paranoia and politics of a futuristic surveillance society.

I'm beginning to believe we are their "enemies".

Obama administration has already said so, referring to conservatives as their "enemies," and branding Bible-believers, pro-lifers, veterans, and small-government advocates as domestic terrorists.

So. .if you’re alive and therefore experiencing the normal ups and downs of life..you should be spied on by your coworkers.

Must make for a cohesive and productive working environment, eh? Gotta love that teamwork spirit.

“It was just a matter of time before the Department of Agriculture or the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) started implementing, ‘Hey, let’s get people to snitch on their friends.’ The only thing they haven’t done here is reward it,” said Kel McClanahan, a Washington lawyer who specializes in national security law. “I’m waiting for the time when you turn in a friend and you get a $50 reward.”

Plenty of potential for evil. And Obama and his friends have never been able to avoid doing evil.

My first thought also. The white house is exempt from putting our military in danger.

And of course, a simple personality clash would never prompt any problems.

On a side note, I am an accountant and if someone is having any sort of life difficulty that could cause them to want to augment their pay, and has the access to do so, I may keep a little extra eye on them. But I would never suspect them for that reason only and I only base any actions on facts, not feelings.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.” Aleksandr_Solzhenitsyn

In the 1960's I had the pleasure of meeting a Polish grandfather of a friend. This man and his brothers made use of the OSS's Liberator single shot 45 shown below:

Since Poland was under control of the Russians at that time, he didn't go into specifics to protect relatives and friends behind the Iron Curtain in Poland.

He and his brothers developed a code of take two Nazis or Communists with you. They used the 45 Liberators to kill Nazi and later Russian officers. Then they used their weapons to kill more.

Apparently, one of the last actions of the OSS before Truman disbanded them was get he and his relatives out of Poland as the war ended.

Take two with you, was and is a powerful message for all.

remember the election when he told his supporters to look out for those who oppose or say anything about Obama and then report them.

They were asking Americans ot spy on Americans and sadly some did because they’re too stupid to understand it can be reversed on them one day

I searched for it and indeed this is true. Not new either...

Those subject to the UCMJ include “Retired members of a regular component of the armed forces who are entitled to pay”

Look at 802 (4) at the link below

This administration is the most threatening to American freedoms and way of life I’ve ever seen!!!

You're exactly right, but the important thing is Kim Kardashian gave birth to her baby, North West.

That's all the majority of folks care about.

Read the Communist Manifesto. They side with anyone who’s fighting against the Christian, Capitalist, Freedom lovers (The Bourgeoisie). Their ideological gulf doesn’t matter.
