I have mixed feelings about this. It's good that the cops showed restraint and decided to "pick their battle", but I'm also concerned two wanted criminals are loose. I'm not sure if they're the violent type.

D'ya think, after surrounding the perps for some time , the LEO's don't have a plan for surveilance ?

This just could be page one in hostage negotiations.

Think about it ... Go ahead and give 'em the helicopter and the million and whatever ... and follow them all the way 'til they run out of gas

I would half-way agree if they aren’t “violent” criminals; say they shoplift and write bad checks (do they still do that?). But if they aren’t violent, then what is the risk of a firefight if they have no weapons? I suppose they might have threatened to light some of the gas/solvents/etc. on fire and create an explosion if the cops came in.

But then there goes the non-violent part.

Good to see Oregon police exercising good judgment. Now is the time for negotiators, friends and family to talk the suspect out. A far different scenario from the LAPD and their “burn the mother******down” approach to things.

Uncommonly good sense, if they were warrants for non-violent offenses. The story doesn’t say. They were in an auto center, I think that means car-buying place, and their names probably sent up a flag when they were checked out for a test-drive or something. It would have made better sense to have figured this out before they evacuated the adjacent businesses and surrounded the place, but hey. At least a dog didn’t get shot.

It’s a damn shame the Feds didn’t do this in Waco. 80 people would have lived.

FBI Director Mueller did say they use drones.

Now we'll find out if they're armed with Hellfire missiles.

Did KGW leave out an important piece of information on this strange story? The Sherwood Police “raced to the business around 5 p.m. after learning that Daniel Crum and Heather Amaya, who both have warrants out for their arrest, were inside.” Warrants for what? If the warrants were serious enough in nature to justify racing to the scene, why weren’t serious enough to make the collar?
If “authorities” were concerned about someone getting hurt, what did they plan on doing when the made the decision to roll on it?
Very strange story.

You don’t have to force the issue in minutes, but you can’t back down. Sooner or later these two need to be taken out of circulation, and now is best. Someone else will now be the victim of their treachery, and who knows how many in-between.

If they’re violent to cause “anyone getting hurt” they are violent enough to be captured ASAP.

Unless the cops are talking about themselves. They must have had the word that a dog was inside.

So, the secret is to be "heavily armed" and travel in pairs.

Nice to know.

they then kicked in doors to several homes, shot some dogs, an old lady, then realized they were all wrong addresses.

I think it is a breath of fresh air - think Ruby Ridge/Waco/wrong addresses/killed dogs at wrong addresses/etc. When they go in like an assault team for no good reason, the People are done a disservice by the "Law".
