Mouse vs. man in new Cold War (Barry vs. Vladimir)
The New York Post ^ | June 23, 2013 | Michael Goodwin

The photo of President Obama and Russian boss Vladimir Putin sitting glum-faced at the G8 summit sparked talk of a new Cold War. Let’s hope not, because we would lose this time.

Looking at them, I had one thought: In a showdown, my money is on Putin. In fact, whether negotiating over Syria or arm-wrestling, I want a Putin on our side.

He knows his country’s national interests and is prepared to pursue them. We, on the other hand, have a president who increasingly lives over the rainbow.

World disorder is growing by the day, and Obama seems not to notice or care. His big moment in Berlin — a speech at the Brandenburg Gate — was noteworthy for his profuse sweating.

News reports focused on the small crowd, which was a fraction of the rock-star-sized turnout he got there in 2008. But Obama’s topic struck me as the cause for alarm.

He proposed cutting Russian and American nuclear arms by a third, an idea so loopy it had the feeling of a bait-and-switch. He had to know Putin would say nyet, and the timing made no sense with chemical weapons floating around in Syria and the rise of new nuclear powers, including Pakistan, India and North Korea.....

Sad, isn't it? Just remember, three presidents ago we had Ronald Reagan.

Not only is my money on Putin to win, I’d give Putin 50-50 odds that he will side with the interests of the American people. There isn’t even a 1% chance that Obama would side with the interests of the American people.

How a guy like Putin could even sit next to a she-man like obama, I’ll never understand. Putin should’ve popped the SOB with that Super Bowl ring.

This reminds me of the Kennedy era when Khrushchev and Castro misjudged the resolve of JFK and put nukes in Cuba, forcing a showdown that could have led to World War III. Putin has to have wondered a few times what the reaction would be if NORAD called Obama at 3 a.m. and said hundreds of ICBMs were arching over the Pole.

the problem is, real americans get up everyday and put in 8 hours before they even have a chance to find out whats happening to our country.

liberals have hoards of people working full time (getting paid either by soros or orginizations like the aclu), figuring was to transform our country.

Very sad. I spent my working years as a behind the scenes cold warrior, hired the year Reagan took office. I was never more proud and loved my work, the highlight of which was when the Berlin Wall came down. National Security is STILL my #1 priority when voting, it HAS to be. Without it, there is nothing else. Now we have a wimpy, we are the world, apologist, Marxist in the WH, voted in AGAIN, which is still beyond all comprehension to me. He is so ill prepared to deal with the real thugs out there...and surround himself with people like Kerry and Hagel and all the ‘wimmens’ in his inner circle. Not a pair of cojones in the sum total of them. we are in deep doodoo, my FRiends.

If Putin bitch-slapped obama, would that be considered domestic violence?

Between Russia and the USA right now, Russia is the Christian nation.

However self serving it may be, Putin will be protecting the Syrian Christians against the Obama armed AQ rebels. Never thought I’d see the day when Russia stands up for Christians.

I’ve been waiting a long time to hear the first politician with the power to do anything useful about it say the the first word about protecting Christians in this world and, so far, the only taker has been Vladimir Putin.
