Today, June 25th, is DAY #12 (of 3rd week) State of Florida V. George Zimmerman case. An explosive first day of opening statements and witnesses took place yesterday.
[yesterday] saw the completion of opening statements and the launch of the States case, with four of the States witnesses being brought to the stand. In a nutshell, I thought the defense did a far superior job in cross-examination than the State did on direct, with its own witnesses, which does not bode well for the States prospects in this case. >> I think he was sending a message that was received loud and clear.
+1
IMHO Zimmerman is blessed with an excellent defense team.
If any of y’all (not meaning you, c.l.) complaining about their opening comments would consider instead doing something that might actually be helpful, how about...
>> Pray for Zimmerman’s defense team, that GOD bless them with extraordinary wisdom and the right words at the right time;
>> Pray for the jury, that they remain attentive and dismiss from their minds all prejudice and focus on the defense presentation, and have the wisdom and fortitude to make the right decision, without regard to the decision the “community” wants or expects
>> Pray for Judge Nelson, that she put aside all thoughts of political correctness and the influence of the prosecution “system” and deliver righteous justice.
>> Pray for George Zimmerman, and his longsuffering family, that GOD give them strength to endure to the end and faith that justice will be done.
PRAYER is effective. Second guessing and armchair quarterbacking are not particularly helpful at this time.
Thanks and may GOD bless you
After GZ’s NEN call ends, the DeeDee call continues for 2 minutes — then within 30 seconds of that DeeDee call ending the first 911 call is made. It would seem as if DeeDee was listening to the early part of the beatdown.
If they bring in Z’s bad acts, then the defense can bring in Z’s good acts, but they can’t then just go after TM’s bad acts, unless the prosecution brings up TM’s good acts.
But then again IANAL.
Last night I saw Mark Fuhrman say the beating was not that bad. How bad does it have to get before you can defend yourself?
Diana Tennis:
Did I hear Ben Crump was on TV last night while under sequestration? Someone tell me that is urban myth.
Fuhrman bears part of the responsibility for the O.J.Simpson verdict. I guess he would say that was not “that bad” either.
Now Mantei is arguing that allowing this evidence in does not show state of mind that night BUT state of mind not that night.
He wants to present evidence of what the evidence was not.
Is he for real???
Less than 200 showed up last night at the NAACP’s big event:
Entering the 2/26/2012 911 calls into evidence
What did the judge rule? All the calls can be submitted to the jury?

I’m so glad there’s a thread! I thought I looked thoroughly but...guess not :)
One general comment I’d make on this case....even though I’m very strongly inclined to believe Zimmerman’s story rather than Slick Al Sharptons if I was juror and Zimmerman failed to testify I’d find that *very* disturbing and would hold that against him.If I was on trial for a murder that I know I didn’t commit (including issues of self defense) there’s not a defense lawyer on earth who could convince me not to testify and there’s not a prosecutor on earth whose questions I would fear.OTOH,if I was guilty there’s no way I’d testify because I’m not nearly a good enough liar...a good enough actor...to outsmart a prosecutor of even average skills.
Looking at Z’s injuries, I just realized what happened!
When George shot Trayvon, the recoil caused the gun to hit him in the nose, bloodying it. That caused him to fall backwards on the concrete and he banged up the back of his head.
