Prosecution attempts to silence Jared Marcum with gag order (NRA T-shirt boy - WTF!!!)

Full title: Prosecution attempts to silence Jared Marcum with gag order; reporter covering story threatened with arrest

WOWK has been the only news outlet following every new development in the case of Jared Marcum, the Logan County, West Virginia student who was suspended, arrested and is now facing an obstruction charge after refusing to change his NRA shirt at school. On Monday morning, June 24, Jared's case took yet another turn.

Nearly two weeks before Jared, the 14-year-old at the center of the "T-Shirt Control Controversy", was scheduled to be back in court, he found himself inside of the Logan County Courthouse for an emergency gag order hearing requested by prosecutors Christopher White and Sabrina Deskins.

"We were here because the prosecution filed a motion for a gag order," Jared's attorney Ben White said. "My opinion is because, seemingly, they want to take it out of the court of public opinion."

Prosecutors were hoping to bar Jared, his father and his lawyer from sharing their story with the press, under the guise that their request would serve Jared's better interest, something Jared's father Allen Lardieri sees as ironic.

"It was for Jared's better interest is what I was told, which seems to be a bit odd to me," Lardieri said. "These are the same individuals that are trying to prosecute him, so as far as them knowing what is in his better interest, I have a lot of questions about that."

Charlo Greene, on behalf of WOWK and the free press, prepared a petition to intervene for the gag order hearing but before Charlo could present her argument or even deliver her petition to the court clerk, she was thrown out of the Logan County Courthouse, twice, by a bailiff, who said the judge presiding over Jared's case, Eric O'Briant requested it. Charlo was then threatened with arrest and the same charge that Jared is currently on trial for, obstructing an officer.

Meanwhile, Jared met with prosecutors who withdrew their petition for a gag order, on the condition that Jared's parent waive the confidentiality that bars the prosecution from speaking freely about his case, due to him being a minor.

Jared, who is now facing the possibility of up to a year in jail, or juvenile confinement and up to a $500 fine for an obstruction charge that police say hinges on the fact that he refused to stop talking when they arrived at Logan Middle School to arrest him on April 18, is expected to be back in court on July 11.

Jared's attorney Ben White says he will continue working to have the charges against Jared thrown out.

The prosecutors and arresting officer refused to answer any of WOWK's questions.

Check out the bull dyke b!tch cop at 1:10 on the video. She needs to lose her job. I hate to say it, but I have lost almost all respect for LEOs. Their F'in unions and plain ignorance of the constitution makes me want to puke.

Circling the wagons.

They must know that absolutely no one agrees with what they're doing.

“Meanwhile, Jared met with prosecutors who withdrew their petition for a gag order, on the condition that Jared’s parent waive the confidentiality that bars the prosecution from speaking freely about his case, due to him being a minor.”

This seems fair enough to me. Jared and his parents seem to have chosen to fight this out in the media. I, for one, want to hear both side before I make my mind up about this case.

So speaking is now obstruction? WTF, officer” do you know what you did wrong” me “ not saying a word” or me talking and talking. End result? apparently they will both get you arrested! I guess all we should do is hunker down in our homes and pray we don’t irritate our LEO’s. Unless of course we are the right type of person, then anything goes!

The people in that county either rise up and rid themselves of such “public servants” or lose their liberty. Sure wish there was a conservative organization who would personally sue the school board, law enforcement officials and the prosecutors for violating this boy’s civil rights. Make them pay.

That is fair to me as well. The media battle has begun. I'm watching Cam Edwards on NRANews on the Sportsmen's Channel and Cam brought up the story.

If you haven't been following the story, the kid refused to remove his NRA t-shirt at school. The school policy has nothing that can be construed to make the NRA t-shirt against school policy. The kid stuck to his guns, so to speak. Then the police were called. He was just a scared kid declaring his innocence to the police and they charge him with obstructing a police officer because he wouldn't shut up.

This is a case of low intelligent liberal educators forcing their personal will on a 14 year old kid, and when the kid shows some backbone the police get called. The cops should have been pissed at the school and supported the kid, but they didn't.

What a fabulous education this young man is receiving. No thorazine drip of the public schools and their skull mush shaping. This guy gets to take the red pill and go down the rabbit hole to truth.

I hope he grows up from the experience and gives the system a little payback while he recruits a few thousand more.

We desperately need to see some police and public officials in GenPop after conviction of “under color of law” felonies. This kind of crap would end very quickly.

BTW, when I wore a t-shirt back in the 70's which my teacher found problematic, we were both intelligent and civil enough to allow me to turn it inside out in her classroom. It was her classroom. It was my respect for her opinion. It was her respect for my opinion as long as it was reversed while she had to teach the class.

Are we now that effin stupid that two parties who disagree need cops to strike a reasonable conclusion?

When liberals are involved, yes. I have my kids out of government school, but we had some time in the system. There were a minority of teachers that I respected. Most were liberal agenda driven union thugs. Even then I showed them respect, but I stood up for my children and my tax dollars. I swear half the time they were unable to put a cogent argument together for screw ups. I recall going to college and seeing the type of people that were education majors. The axiom that applies here is 50% of Americans have below average intelligence.

#1 we have a stupid and ridiculous school system here which all too often enjoy an unhealthy overlap with bottom of the totem pole cops. ie, school liason officers. They are the worst. #2 we have a kid with limited communication abilities beyond wearing a t-shirt which says something. First rule is.....Be in good standing within your community and base before taking a swing at the king or his servants.

My guess is that if he were in good standing, the matter would have been dropped.

Public school teachers statistically come from the bottom 20% of their graduating classes. Most of those are from state universities.

LOL, the prosecutors want the freedom to fight this in the court of public opinion? Bring it on!

I think the town parents should get an NRA t-shirt for all their school children, maybe the whole family and wear them on "a designated Jared Day".

Besides the so-labeled "bull dyke cop", school admins, especially the female ones, are all Janet Napolitano wannabes.

And there is nothing wrong with that. People need to recognize that teaching is a low skill job. I know homeschool parents that only have a high school education and a love for their children. They do very well. The knowledge required to teach K though 12 is minimal. Teachers do not need to be paid like engineers and they do not need masters degrees to teach arithmetic. If anything, they get more confused about what the are teaching with the more education they receive.
