Statement by Secretary Hagel on DOMA Ruling
U.S. Department of Defense ^ | 6/26/2013 | Chuck Hagel

Posted on 06/26/2013 2:15:49 PM PDT by Wayne07

The Department of Defense welcomes the Supreme Court's decision today on the Defense of Marriage Act. The department will immediately begin the process of implementing the Supreme Court's decision in consultation with the Department of Justice and other executive branch agencies. The Department of Defense intends to make the same benefits available to all military spouses -- regardless of sexual orientation -- as soon as possible. That is now the law and it is the right thing to do.

Every person who serves our nation in uniform stepped forward with courage and commitment. All that matters is their patriotism, their willingness to serve their country, and their qualifications to do so. Today's ruling helps ensure that all men and women who serve this country can be treated fairly and equally, with the full dignity and respect they so richly deserve.

Hagel is a fine example of the Republican National Headquarters....

Now, think about that....

Right out the box....Hagel is embraced by Kristol, Rove, and the rest of the fine upstanding country club Republicans....

Again, think about that...

Boop,

Basically.. the Federal government now recognizes gay marriage and gives gays benefits.

Since the military is considered Federal.. Hagel is going to give gays in the military gay marriage benefits.

States don’t have to give State benefits to gay couples if they don’t want to.

"Drop that government and marriage thing, all government has always been a part of marriage."

OK then I challenge you to find it in any of the following Documents "The Declaration of Independence" "The Constitution of the United States" and "The Bill of Rights" (A.K.A. The Founding Documents)

I'll save you time its not in there but you better look quick because I guarantee you there is a bunch of Leftists huddled in some office in Washington drafting a New Amendment called the Marriage Equality Amendment.

“is it true that 75 % of Americans are Gay ?”
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Not really but any day now I expect a ruling that requires that at least 51 percent will have to be gay.

The Continental congress was defining legal marriage for federal purposes in legislation of 1780, with updating of that legislation in 1794, 1798, 1802, and ever since.

Government has always been a part of marriage, from Rome to Greece to Thomas Jefferson’s marriage.

Marriage still has to be recognized by government, and still is, what is this silly thing you keep saying? No government involvement in marriage? That is not an actual part of American history or man’s history, even the Apache and Mayans had marriage.

Try to focus on the actual issue of gay marriage, not this fantasy world of yours.

Again please find for me in the Documents the definition of marriage.

BTW here is the Constitution Onlines blurb about Marriage:

Under the Heading: Things NOT in the Constitution

"Marriage
In 2004, a lot of controversy began to swirl around the topic of marriage as homosexual marriage entered the news once again. In 1999, the Vermont Supreme Court ordered that the state must make accommodations for gay unions, bringing the issue into the public eye. Vermont created civil unions as a result. In 2004, the Massachusetts Supreme Court went a step further, and ruled that the state must accommodate not just an institution equal to marriage, as civil union was designed to be, but that gay marriage itself must be offered in the state. Subsequently, mayors in New York and California began to offer gay marriage in their towns and cities, citing civil rights concerns. Those opposed to gay marriage began to urge that an amendment to the Constitution be created to define marriage as being between a man and a woman only. Opponents of the amendment pointed to the failed Prohibition Amendment as a reason why such social issues should stay out of the Constitution. In the absence of any such amendment, however, marriage is not mentioned in the Constitution at any point."

It will be declared soon that Bible believing Christians and Christian chaplains must renounce their faith or be arrested for “discrimination.” And don’t think it will stop with just the military. Your Social Security check, Medicare, or any other affiliation with the Federal government will make us all beholden to the Beast. What is happening right now is truly Satanic. Christ is the only answer.

What a disgrace. I think the left has now fully corrupted the last institution of patriotism. So long, America.

Really? you think they didn’t know more than you about their own government and constitution?

“”The Continental congress was defining legal marriage for federal purposes in legislation of 1780, with updating of that legislation in 1794, 1798, 1802, and ever since.””

Do you think that they would have recognized homosexual “marriage”, or your telling them they had to?

"Do you think that they would have recognized homosexual “marriage”, or your telling them they had to?"

Again, Congress making a law does not mean its Constitutional.

If you do nothing else at least have an adult help you learn that one.

It will save you embarrassment in the future.

And once again I'll explain (I am typing slowly so your finger can keep up!)

I want just exactly the opposite. I don't want the Fedgov legalizing Gay marriage OR forbidding it.

I DON"T WANT THE FEDGOV INVOLVED IN MARRIAGE AT ALL IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM!

Have you got it now? Do you understand?

No Way shape or form! Nothing Nada Nyet Nein...!

Would you vote for a state politician who was libertarian on personal relationships?

"Would you vote for a state politician who was libertarian on personal relationships?"

I vote for people based on one thing whether they have shown they will uphold the Oath of office. Personal Relationships aren't mentioned in the oath of office.

See you are still having a problem. YOU WANT PEOPLE IN OFFICE THAT MEDDLE IN STUFF THEY HAVE NO BUSINESS BEING INVOLVED IN.

You are not Conservative. You are just the Republican version of Liberal Activist.

You want the government to regulate people's personal lives.

That is what I try to tell people about libertarians, it is a philosophy that they support, at all levels, school board, city, county, state, and federal.

You would think 75% was gay. Their entire agenda and presence is inflated by the media.
