It shouldn't. Let it disintegrate into red and blue. And once the blues see how miserable and weak their godless, socialistic "utopia" has become, they'll be clamoring to get into the red area where capitalism and morality make our country what America once was.

But this time, we'll keep 'em out.

This is getting a bit ridiculous.

Ridiculous? No. Tragic.

I suspect future historians, if they aren't progressive ideologues more interested in re-writing history than reporting it, will look at post-Ronald Reagan America with disbelief. That our nation willingly: frittered away our freedoms; abrogated our sovereignty of the individual; and shrugged off all the warning signs--in spite of mountains of evidence that collectivism does not result in rainbows and unicorns but instead yields unimaginable suffering for those not part of the ruling elite.

Look Obama won the presidency, twice. But he’s going to be replaced next time.

In many respects, Obama (or Hillary, or whoever the Alinskyite of the month is), is irrelevant. Obama is, in this context, just a symptom. The cause is the substantial number of American citizens/voters who don't care about individual freedom, the sovereignty of the individual, and personal responsibility. Remember the "Obamaphone Lady"?

We’re likely to increase our presence in the Senate next time (2014).

Perhaps. But please remember that the statist inertia will require more than one election cycle to reverse. Not to mention the fact that if "increase our presence in the Senate" means an increase in Republican Senators, then this incorrectly assumes that there are no statist Republicans. I think the current "immigration reform" bill brouhaha exposes the fatal flaw of this particular assumption.

Why is everyone so negative?

I'm not very bright, but heck, I'll give it a shot: maybe because Obama and his fellow Alinskyite travelers seem to triumph in spite of the glaringly obvious failure of their collectivist policies. (Failure in terms of advancing and increasing true wealth for the majority of the American people. How high is the U-6 rate these days...?)

Just my 2¢. Cheers.

As long as there is a remnant of reasonable, responsible and resourceful Americans ( and I know many here on FR ) then we will survive as a nation. Until the Constitution is reworded, reworked and revised, supreme court decisions can be changed. We need to work harder than ever to revitalize conservative values, reinstitute virtuous living, and reinforce the Original Intent of our Constitution.

I still have hope and will never lose hope.

God Bless America.

The population that understands why this country was founded and the principles it was founded on is shrinking, rapidly.

Decades ago, immigrants could not wait to learn English, to lace up their boots and work, to own property, to raise children and inspire them to prosper. The were givers, giving to this rich country.

Now, work is not necessary. Government handouts are the sugar that attracts the takers, taking wealth from this indebted country.

A massive reversal in our demographics is the only change that can save us.

"Like Rome, America apparently can coast for a long time on the fumes of its wonderful political heritage and economic dynamism -- even if both are little understood or appreciated by most who still benefit from them."

Truth.

Also the first order of business is to pen all of zero’s executive orders over 8 years out of existance. null and void!

That should be ALL executive orders, not just obama's. I would vote for a person, in a heartbeat that made a campaign promise to review ALL executive orders for constitutionality, would negate any that violate the constitution, and I felt would follow through with it.

The problem is there is no one brave enough on the national stage to make that promise and no one I feel would follow through.

I believe Palin will replace Obama, and we will win the Senate in 2014.

Wow. You seem stuck in the last century.

Palin is not well regarded outside hardcore conservative groups, and who is this "we" that is going to win the Senate? Do you mean the same statist ruling class oligarchs who are pushing amnesty?

To: who knows what evil?

Amen...except I would amend your thought to keep God in your heart.

the only thing that can save us is a revival...a massive outpouring of God’s Holy Spirit upon His people.

I think Joshua nailed it with this:
I know not whom you will serve, but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

It’s time for Christians to answer that question.

The Roman historian Tacitus wrote of the second Roman emperor: "Tiberius often as he left the Senate-House used to exclaim in Greek; "How ready these men are to be slaves."

Ouch! Great quote, one I hadn't seen before.

Simple. It won’t.

We are in G-War, folks. We must fight with every trick and g-war principle we know of.

Countries come and go. I’ll lead by example, regardless of what country I find myself in.

My wife and I have started thinking that way as well.

Another answer - it would be better if it didn’t...

A true republic, giving people the choice under what level of government they wish to live, is the only way to maintain liberty.

Kas...

AlexW isn’t a troll. Republicans just don’t stand for the Republic anymore.

I’ve been wondering when the American Party will emerge.

Actually you have not been longer here then I have. My original signup date was April 18th 1998 which was about 55 days before you did.

My original Freeper name was SaphyrB, but I had to change it because our Cable company provided internet service and FR could not retrieve my pass word from my previous provider. I chose Kaslin because it is part of my last names. Kas is for the last three letters in my maiden name and lin for the last three letters in in my last name

Ted Cruz is too smart to ever get his name linked with Sarah Palin

You better send him a memo.

TED CRUZ AT CPAC: I WOULD NOT BE IN SENATE WITHOUT SARAH PALIN

Cruz said Palin, like him, drives the mainstream media "bat-crap crazy" because she is "fearless," "principled," and "courageous" while the mainstream media wants conservatives to "shut up and accept defeat and be timid."

If she runs, people will listen, even if they are just hoping for an entertaining Tina Fey comment.
________________

*People* may listen, but they will not hear what you think they will.

The first time around, even established GOP women wouldn’t support her.

Weiner is a manufactured candidate. He may even lose, but will be touted as “the former Mayoral candidate” for as long as it takes for him to become rehabilitated. He is viable because TPTB say he is viable. And the same PTB say Palin isn’t. And people nod in agreement and return to their individual lives.

While the recent SCOTUS ruling bodes very well for voter ID in the affected states, the problem is that the supporters of the progs control enough states via their overwhelming presence in both large cities and university towns. Public service union members can out-organize any effort to change the regime, although the figurehead will change.

A sizable number of conservatives will simply not vote. How many *conservative saviors* have we seen in the past 10 years who use us and then turn on us the moment they acquire some power?

There will not be a revolution. Even if 30% actively resisted, the mechanisms exist to neutralize them one-by-one and as a group. Media for the high-profile ones and the tried-and-true whisper campaigns and marginalization that is brought to bear on the smaller fry.

I have watched mid-level small business people who tried to campaign forcefully against the regime become mired in government audits that have no other purpose than to tie up their funds and their time until the moment for action passes. People become exhausted and simply keep their opinions to themselves.

The modern incarnation of the USA will continue, possibly for several decades. It is no longer the America we grew up with and the majority of the younger generations don’t care or are outright gleeful at that prospect. How can anything collapse when, on one hand, people complain of cost inflation and wage deflation and on the other hand think nothing of owning a latest generation smartphone and a laptop and a PDA, all with unlimited texting and email and internet and the ability to download all the music and video they can absorb? Housing, food, education and in some places, transport are all subsidized by the regime. People essentially work for disposable income and spend it on electronics and trendy branded overprices clothing. They find the money for expensive concert tickets and sports events. As far as they are concerned, there is no problem, so all this will continue. Our fiat is strong enough on a comparable basis to continue. The world invests in our stock market, which goes up even when the falsified GDP goes down. We control a lot of the world’s gold and tell anyone who wants theirs repatriated that we’ll get back to them on that. Just what is going to be allowed to trigger a real collapse that the populace will actually experience? We can count on the media to trumpet even a real collapse as somehow positive enough for the majority of proles that it will not dampen their enthusiasm. They will gladly exchange current comfort for everything demanded of them in return.

And just to make sure that the entity called America continues to remain in thrall, the governing authorities are importing a new population guaranteed to support them at least until those who remember the Republic are drooling or dead.

Call it the USZ for United States of Zombies.

God is the same now as he ever was. We are always given a choice of two paths. One is a blessing and one is a curse.

The Choas Monster is the choice for some, for not for all. The Lord allows the Choas Monster to take comtrol, to bring judgement on a land. HOW are we supposed to really understand what is not good for us, unless we see it with out own eyes- and choose not to follow it.

Gay Sex and Abortion are not going to bring anyone a blessing. Stealing people’s wages and opressing people is not going to bring a blessing.

America stays together, when out of the ash heap rises His children, who always chose the blessing.

God has not changed. America still exists, we are just watching a whole huge group of people opt out of the blessings of America.

But not everone is choosing to go down the path of curses.

“How Will America Hold Together?”

Inertia, for the time being. A better question should be “Is there any reason to hold it together?” At this point, I find I have little in common with anti-gun atheists from the northeast, smug doper libertarians from the southwest, mouthy supporters of gay marriage from California, or recent imports from the failed states of Latin America. America was a nation held together by a set of common beliefs that are no longer common. The threads are unraveling- and what will be left?
