The Obama administration, already under fire for the IRS scandal and National Security Agency snooping of the computers and cellphones of Americans, is also spending millions to have private contractors conduct a dragnet for confidential and personal credit and bank transactions without a warrant.

Newly obtained documents from the Obama-created Consumer Financial Protection Bureau reveal that the administration has OK'd a project to accumulate the personal financial data of some 5 million and share it with other agencies to build a "nationally representative panel of credit information on consumers for use in a wide range of policy research projects."

The documents obtained by public watchdog group Judicial Watch and provided to Secrets also indicate that those picked in the dragnet will be chosen randomly, meaning every American is subject to the raid on their information.

I believe the first wave of attacks against conservatives will be the locking down of their financial accounts.

I don’t think that action will be limited to conservatives - a simple glitch, stuxnet virus or whatever can take care of it all.

That’s crazy, like wow. And you hand it to them? What happened to “here’s my card”?

Pay cash and don’t use a zip code. It will make their heads explode.

I got my financials out of US institutions when I moved to Canada earlier this year. Bank was no big deal, just ran it dry. I closed my brokerage account and when asked why, told them I did not trust the US financial market. Broker sounded like he had heard that reason for lost business a lot of times previously.

That the policy now. I am guessing to limit teller confusion they probably say to scan all transactions. They would definitely scan the DL on a cash back transaction. The technology is at all teller stations.

I'm surprised there are people shocked by that news.

What I want to know is who that little eyeball belongs to that's been appearing in the corner of the email password box for the last couple of weeks and today when I signed up at the godirect ss website password box.

Maybe they think I need a reminder.

One more thing about this nsa big brother. Now that the muslim brotherhood is nested in the highest levels of homeland security it would behoove US to assume they have access to whoever/whatever they may want access to also, would it not?

I was at the post office and noticed when people paid with a credit card he also entered their 3 digit code for their records.

So if the Post Office was hacked all those credit cards could be used easily? Charming.

The Last Enemy

Good series for a look at where we are headed (maybe already there).

Stephen Ezard (Benedict Cumberbatch, Atonement) returns to London to mourn the loss of his brother, Michael, and enters a society now obsessed with surveillance. Searching to make sense of Michael's death, Stephen uncovers secrets about his brother's life — including a wife he never knew Michael had. Taking a government job to trace leads through a powerful new database, Stephen exposes troubling revelations and soon finds himself stalked by a rogue agent (Robert Carlyle, The Full Monty). But when Stephen stumbles into an international conspiracy, he realizes that the omnipresent and menacing eye of the government has turned on him. Scripted by Peter Berry (Prime Suspect 6), The Last Enemy offers a frenetic ride through the paranoia and politics of a futuristic surveillance society.

For some time now I have been hitting the ATM for cash and using that for everything I buy. Prolly not 100% foolproof but better than scattering my credit card info everywhere.

Wish there was an easy way to online shop with cash.

I wonder if she was really looking for the number...

Did she make a three-keystroke entry into the register after looking at it?

I wont even show my DL to anyone but a cop or an FFL when I am buying a gun. If they need to see it at a bank to make sure I am who I say I am thats fine, I open the wallet and they can SEE it but no one takes it out for any reason.. and its next to impossible to get it out of there anyway.

I cant tell you how many times these “feel good” ID check programs make me leave my purchases on the counter. NO I am obviously over 21 so leave me alone and NO you cant swipe my ID.

I hate to say it but I almost feel as if its time to start having a second set of “papers” to show when I do not wish to be tracked when buying spraypaint at Walmart. lol

Noticed @dr’s office. Thought it was to prevent theft of services from MY insurance company. Maybe it is just a precusor to 0-care.

“Have you noticed how your driver’s license is being swiped at the bank for “any transaction”====”

I did several large transactions recently and that didn’t happen to me. Maybe it’s a state thing-—I’m in MA.
