DENVER The group trying to save state Senate President John Morse from having to face a recall election announced Friday that it believes many of the petitions turned in by recall organizers were forged.
At least 50 people who apparently signed petitions to recall Morse for his support of gun control legislation have now signed affidavits saying that they, in fact, never actually signed a recall petition themselves.
The group A Whole Lot of People for John Morse believes that the possible forgeries are more widespread; they say the 50 people whove signed their affidavits are just a small sample of the signers.
These organizers claim to have more than 10,000 signatures, but now it appears they have potentially thousands of forged signatures, said Christy LeLait, campaign manager for A Whole Lot of People for John Morse.
This is not a grassroots effort. Were finding that paid signature gatherers got most of these signatures, and were seeing that theyll do anything to get that $3 per petition.
Organizers said theyll ask the El Paso County District Attorney to file criminal charges against at least one of the paid signature gatherers.
The announcement in Colorado Springs Friday comes a day after Morses legal team made its case before the Secretary of States office, which validated the petitions earlier this month, that the signatures arent valid because the forms didnt include language informing signers that a recall election would also force voters in Senate District 11 to pick Morses successor.
A spokesperson for the group trying to recall Morse, the Basic Freedoms Defense Fund, told FOX31 Denver Thursday that it followed the law throughout the petition process.
Deputy Secretary of State Suzanne Staiert, who presided over Thursdays hearing, is set to issue her ruling by next Wednesday; the losing side is expected to file an appeal in district court.
If Morse is unable to get the signatures thrown out, hed become the first state lawmaker in Colorado history to face a recall election.
Sen. Angela Giron, D-Pueblo, could become the second.
On Monday, the Secretary of States office validated the signatures turned in to force a recall in her district.
Like Morse, Giron is protesting that the petitions circulated werent valid.
Some Morse? Only 50? LoL. You got about 3000 more to go. And more likely your dishonest operatives saying they didn't sign the recall. Dem lying is resume enhancer.

Laughable hypocrisy coming from you. You get your Bloomberg and Chi-town money yet Morse?
Set up.

Fakery. Pure fakery, also known as a lie.
Yep. File away for future reference.
It wouldn't hurt in the future to get them signed where you have a camera catch them. Later, perjury charges could be fun...and take out the operatives.
I’ll join the setup bandwagon. It’s pretty obvious.
If Morse was a decent man, he would leave.
That is a standard democrat tactic:
1. - Get your name on the opposition’s petitions.
2. - Disguise your handwritting
3. - Enter false information
4. - Deny that you signed the petition
5. - Challenge the validity of the signature as a way of discrediting the entire petition
They were probably paid by those outsiders who were calling the petition-signers to recant. (How did they get the phone numbers?)
NSA or IRS?
Laughable hypocrisy, and probably untrue from what I’ve read about the grass-rootedness of the recall effort, namely that it was essentially completely amateurs.
But the left comes out swinging and clawing, something the right seems unable to do.
From observing the Left so many times, I conclude clearly and only that this is pure psychological projection. Because, this is exactly what they would do. The commies and fascists of long ago realized that upon perceiving that when they are about to get caught at a crime, immediately accuse their rivals of the crime. It is a derivative of the everybody-does-it defense.(spit)

I live near Colorado Springs, and can tell you for a fact Morse is desperate and beyond desperate not to be held accountable for his anti-Second Amendment bigotry. The only thing leftist extremists hate more than those who believe we commoners have a right to defend our lives and property is being held accountable for their crimes.
Just a few minutes ago, some snake-lady rang my doorbell and was questioning my wife if I signed a recall petition to recall Giron. My wife thought it was the census hole at first, so I wasn’t going to deal with that right now. She told my wife she would be back on Saturday.
I don’t like being harassed by commie dirtbags, especially at my home. How about I take suggestions on how best to humiliate this idiot tommorrow, I’ll post the result on this thread.
You could video tape the visit. You may get something that exposes them.
Answer the door cradling a shotgun and holding a shell. When she asks if you signed the petition rant about that dictator wannabe gun grabbing SOB. Then invite her in for a glass of lemonade.
It should be pretty easy to compare the signatures with the signed affidavits. Also, if they get the collection person (I assume they have to sign each petition), they can show that collection person pictures and ask if these people signed or not.
On the other hand, I don’t think you should ever hire petition gatherers. That is what sunk Gingrich in Virginia in 2011 — it is just too easy for crooks to sign up and forge signatures for money.
Use people who really care, and make sure they understand that every signature will be scrutinized.
There is a time constraint on getting those signatures. If it doesn't look like you can get them with the volunteers you have, do you give up because hired signature gatherers are gauche?
No because hired signature gatherers cheat, and then you get your signatures thrown out.
The goal is to get valid signatures.
