I’m not opposed to legal immigrants who want to come to the US, work hard, and make new lives for themselves as Americans

Gee, I am.

Or, rather, I am in favor of a naturalization policy and process that works in the best interest of the current US citizen population.

Because of the current situation, I would not allow ANY immigration, of any kind, that could lead to citizenship for, let's say, 50 years.

Why do you accept the premise that there's something wrong with being "opposed to legal immigration"? We have had way, way too many immigrants in much too short a time, we need time to digest them.

At the source link:

In an email, a spokesman for Mr. Walker said the governor hasn’t endorsed the Senate bill, nor any other “specific policy or legislation.” He said: ”Governor Walker recognizes that we have a broken immigration system, and while he hasn’t endorsed a specific policy, the Governor believes this is an issue that must be addressed.”

Immigration laws should be relaxed to make it easier for people to come to the U.S. and attain citizenship in the future, he said. “There’s got to be a larger way to fix the system in the first place,” he said. “Because if it wasn’t so cumbersome, if there wasn’t such a long wait, if it wasn’t so difficult to get in, we wouldn’t have the other problems that we have.”

Walker doesn't have a clue about immigration. We take in more immigrants annually than the rest of the world combined. The U.S. adds one international migrant (net) every 36 seconds. Immigrants account for one in 8 U.S. residents, the highest level in more than 90 years. In 1970 it was one in 21; in 1980 it was one in 16; and in 1990 it was one in 13. In a decade, it will be one in 7, the highest it has been in our history. And by 2050, one in 5 residents of the U.S. will be foreign-born.

We have 22 million Americans who are underemployed or unemployed. Do we really need more immigrants? Does Walker understand that these "long waits" are a product of the need to set some limits on the numbers who enter each year so they can be assimilated? Immigration to America is a privilege, not a right. We need an immigration policy that serves our national interests, not just the needs and desires of the immigrant.

I think we all endorse a path to citizenship, its just how we get there that is in contention.

Really? A path to citizenship for the lawbreakers already here?

A significant percentage of Wisconsin farmers depend on migrant workers, many of whom are currently undocumented

There was a time when cotton plantations relied on slaves.

Read what I said again.

I do not differ with you. People who come here should be sponsored, like they were in the 20th century. That means that their sponsors should agree to subsidize their expenses until they get on their own feet and should suppply them with a job. They should pass health and education tests. Any law breaking should ensure a ticket back home immediately. They need to pass a citizenship and English test in order to become a voter. No exceptions.

Non citizen permanent residents used to have to register with the government every January. Whatever happened to that requirement?

Politicians (both parties) and big business both want amnesty, but I’m not sure even the typical liberal is on board with this. These amnestied aliens will compete with poor Americans for jobs. They ARE competing against Americans for jobs.

I say, America and Americans FIRST! A pox on any politician, including Gov. Walker, who sells out America by voting for immigration amnesty. I once thought he was presidential material. Now I know he’s just another scumbag politician who is willing to put illegal alien interests ahead of We the People!

How about endorsing the rule of law?

Well, so much for Scott's place on prospective presidential candidate list.

Another failed acid test.
