IRS OFFICIAL LOIS LERNER WANTS IMMUNITY TO TESTIFY BEFORE CONGRESS
Big Government ^ | 7/6/2013 | MICHAEL PATRICK LEAHY

Posted on 07/06/2013 8:09:23 AM PDT by markomalley

On Tuesday, William W. Taylor III, attorney for Lois Lerner, the IRS official at the center of the Tea Party targeting scandal who invoked her Fifth amendment rights before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on May 22, set forward his client's hard line conditions to return and testify openly before the committee.

"They can obtain her testimony tomorrow by doing it the easy way … immunity. That’s the way to resolve all of this," he told Politico.

Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH), a member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee was unimpressed. "We hope she comes in and gives us the truth and answers questions. If that doesn’t happen, then you cross the next bridge. … If she says, ‘No, I’m going to come in and assert my Fifth Amendment rights again and not going to speak,’ then you think about what the other options are."

No problem. I’m just waiting for the Medes and the Persians.

She said she broke no laws. Why would she need immunity?

It looks like George Zimmerman didn't break any laws either. You're always subject to prosecution, because there's always some laws you've broken.

That said, I don't think any government worker should be able to invoke the Fifth about anything they've done on the job. It seems like an obvious confession of wrongdoing above and beyond mistaken conduct in performance of duties.

Let's get this right; She said she was innocent and broke no law, then she refused to testify because she has the right not to incriminate herself, then she said she will testify if she is given immunity from prosecution for never having done anything wrong. And in the end, republicans will go along with all of it and decide there's nothing more to explore.

Is that about right?

...I further stated that all who continue to support Hussein should be stripped of their citizenship. I haven’t heard back from him...

And this surprises you?

I think it safe to say you'll no be getting a Christmas card from him come December.

I want immunity also. Anywhere and anytime even though I have done nothing “wrong”.
What’s good for the goose unless it’s cooked.
It’s all in the dinner presentation. What they want to avoid is picnicking on each other.
CYA at all cost.

Just disgusted.

What difference does it make may be the new way to go rather than we the people.

I follow Trey Gowdy on this. He called for ‘limited’ immunity...and it is used to get to even bigger fish. I don’t know what the other options are...well, a public pillory seems appropriate...along with tar and feathering.

You cannot legally strip her of her retirement. She is most likely under FERS which is a small annuity and the equivalent of a 401K

Federal gooberment/FED policy is stripping the retirement of every citizen by debasing US currency at the rate of $85,000,000,000 per month. What difference, at this point, does it yeah yeah yeah...

We are sooooooooooooo screwed!

Excuse me, I'm depressed,

Up hers.

She a paid public employee, not royalty.

In fact, she’s over paid.

‘She said she broke no laws. Why would she need immunity?’

Give her immunity and she’ll spew the lies the democratic machine tells her to say. Does anyone thing for one second that these criminals do not have a plan in place to escape any accountability.

Real simple, go up the ‘food’ chain with the threat of jail time until you can’t go any further and then attach a 10 year jail sentence. Anyone who was told what to do is not going to allow themselves to face incarceration in order to protect their superior.

Precisely. The entire "I'll come in and testify, but I want immunity" smacks of a trap. She'll go in, testify it was all her idea, fall on the Obama Administration's sword and there'll be nothing that can be done to prosecute her aftewards.

I think most of us can see it coming from a mile away .....

And this surprises you?

actually it does. He was at my wedding and shares my birthday. His silence tells me he has no counter, but has so much invested in hopenchange, that to denounce it now would be a defacto repudiation of all things Left, something he could never accept. I have a feeling he is not the only one who is starting to realize he bought a lemon..

Give her a clear choice, execution or spill the beans and live to go to prison for several years. This pansy letting people off the hook while they run our country into the ground has got to stop.

If I were Issa, I would play hard ball.

I'm pretty sure before you get an immunity deal, you have to cough up the information you have first. I don't think she could just get a deal and then make up a bunch of crap.

Issa's a pretty bright guy, so he'll make it worth his while.

You get her convicted and I’ll spring the trap door and let her drop to the end of her rope ... we both know this nation is in the throes of a thugocracy, so criminal regime bitches aren’t going to be prosecuted for their criminal behaviors.

GIVE IT TO HER! Make her spill her guts!

She will have to answer every question TRUTHFULLY or the immunity goes POOF!

Fortunately, bonehead ain’t running that particular show, Issa is.

Perhaps Issa and Sen. Cruz can “encourage” blubberbrain to move on this.

I know, it will be a long hard tough slog, what with the whole thing being laid out in front of him on a gold-plated silver platter and all...

No, no, no. Give the bitch immunity. With a bit of luck, she and those in DC who ordered this will flip all the way to obozo.
