House to Vote on Bill Prohibiting IRS Enforcement of Obamacare Michael Warren July 9, 2013 1:20 PM

The House of Representatives will take up a bill that would stop the Department of the Treasury, including the Internal Revenue Services, from implementing and enforcing the provisions of Obamacare. The bill, authored by Georgia Republican Tom Price and co-sponsored by 114 other House members, is just two pages long and claims its purpose is to "prohibit the Secretary of the Treasury from enforcing the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010."

Section 3 of the bill simply states that the Treasury Secretary, or any delegate thereof, "shall not implement or enforce any provisions" of the 2010 health care law. Price explained the bill in a statement:

As we've seen in recent announcements from the White House, the Obama Administration is clearly unable to manage the implementation of its own health care law. We've also learned that the IRS is clearly unable to prudently and impartially enforce current law. The Keep the IRS Off Your Health Care Act is essential in preventing further targeting, abuse and harassment, as well as in ensuring Americans have access to quality health care.

It is thanks to the American people who have voiced their support for our plan and the more than 100 members of Congress who have cosponsored H.R. 2009 that we have this opportunity to take action. I urge more of our fellow citizens to get involved, so together, we can continue to keep the pressure on Washington to keep health care decisions in the hands of patients, families and doctors, instead of the government.

The House will hold a vote on the bill before Congress goes into recess in August. A House Republican source says the vote will be held in conjunction with several other bills addressing the IRS's unfair scrutiny toward conservative non-profit groups.

Symbolism...........

Well... not so sure. This is a good step in dismantling that hated monstrosity of Obamacare one step at a time. The dems... just prior to an election year, are going to be faced with having to support the IRS haranguing taxpayers further, or turning this critical component of Obamacare off.

Let's see how it shakes out.

most importantly it is only 2 pages long.

I am of the thought process that if these new bills are longer than 10 pages, then they must be so full of pork that the BBQ festival could last all year.

Under Bonehead, the vote will not matter.

Sorry, but we are not buyin’ the Repulsican’s lame attempts at appearing to be a real party.

I’m afraid CW-II is in our future.

Go for it.

Even the most stupid member of the House can read a two page bill.

Of course Obama would veto it, and probably cannot read it.

I doubt Queen Shelia, Maxine waters, or Hank Johnson could read it, especially if it was cursive.

Agreed. Symbolism. The house might get it through but it’s DOA by Dingy Harry in the senate and just a laugh if it makes it to Bronco Bamas desk.

If they meant it, they would vote to defund.

I assume this means non-enforcement of "must-purchase"; but does it also mean non-enforcement of "must-issue"? The two go together. "Must-issue" without "must-purchase would destroy the concept of insurance.

Was thinking the same thing. If CW2/AmRev2 ever comes around, the first order of business with the establishment of a new legislative body would be to restrict the size of bills to no more than 10 pages and require a Constitutionality clause in the preamble. If it can't be done in 10 pages, it's not proper.

Good thing Obama always obeys the law or this would be pointless.

The CBO, which is certainly NOT “non-partisan”, lied about the price tag for ObamaCare being $900 Billion instead of a trillion dollars so it would pass the House. Shortly after passage, these Democrat lapdogs revised the cost to $1.8 trillion, and now that is reportedly way too low.

Since ObamaCare passed due to deceit, the House has no business funding any of it.

When Boehner doesn’t give Obama more money under a budget or a debt ceiling increase unless he defunds Obamacare, let me know. Until then, it’s all theatrics for the terminally stupid.
