"As your review of the treaty continues, we strongly encourage your administration to recognize its textual, inherent and procedural flaws, to uphold our country's constitutional protections of civilian firearms ownership, and to defend the sovereignty of the United States, and thus to decide not to sign this treaty."
However (Kerry released a statement) about the treaty, saying:
"We look forward to signing it as soon as the process of conforming the official translations is completed satisfactorily. [The treaty is] an important contribution to efforts to stem the illicit trade in conventional weapons, which fuels conflict, empowers violent extremists, and contributes to violations of human rights."
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney has indicated that President Obama intends to sign the treaty by the end of August. Speaking on behalf of Obama, Carney said:
We believe its in the interest of the United States. While we look forward to signing the treaty, there are remaining translation issues that need to be resolved.

Barry’s signature is totally meaningless.
If there’s even a remote chance it will harm America, President You Didn’t Build That is in favor of it.
FU you Kenyan Mulatto fraud a-hole!
Isn't it time for states to figure out some legislation to leave the US?
Hmmm.. I guess arming the Syrian terrorists should be stopped.
Signing it and forcing Americans to obey it are two different matters.
This may be the straw that breaks the camels back.
LOL, like that kind of corruption will EVER stop.
Most nations ignore UN treaties. The only place they are enforced rigorously is in developed Western countries, and even then there are notable exceptions. Consider how few met their commitments to the Kyoto Protocol. This treaty is aimed directly at the Second Amendment. Look for imported ammo to dry up almost immediately.
it has to be affirmativly voted DOWN.
“Apparently, Democrats only support UN treaties, when it suits them.
Creating a U.S. national park on the moon would be a clear violation of the Outer Space Treaty, which was ratified by the U.S. in 1967. “

It’ll probably never even come up for a vote. We rarely bother with the treaty ratification process. That’s what gives us our out when we decide a treaty is inconvenient, since we never ratified it we aren’t really breaking it, you can’t break an agreement you never really made.
They forget that we are behind “every blade of grass”
Reid won't allow that. Like Kyoto, if he thinks he would lose then it's better not to bring it up, as Zero can then enforce what he thinks he can per the 'customary international law' of the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties (which we never ratified but have respected for over thirty years).
Yet if it looks like the Slave Party will lose their majority, look for Massah Reid and Biden to "declare" a quorum and ratify it in the dark of night with no record of how many Senators were actually there. It's been done before.
IMHO, there needs to be a conservative Senator in the building and cameras on the chamber 24-7 until we can boot the thugs from the Presidency of the Senate. The situation is that dire.
Let us hope that a majority of Amnericans - including the often benightred fools in both houses of congress - realize the the constitution trumps any and all UN “treaties.”
But given Obama’s internationalist policies, one wonders how long it’ll be before the morons in blue helmets are patrolling the streets of America....
If the U.N. draftees from Outer Crapistan show up on the streets of America, they are in for a rude awakening. There are millions of heavily armed Americans who have spent generations preparing for just such an event.
Isn’t this meaningless without Senate approval by like 3/4th of the Senate?
Barry is doing this for show with his third world hommies. They know about as much about the constitution as he does, so they will be all impressed.
