Sarah Palin quit on Alaska as governor and has lost touch with her home state, Mark Begich told POLITICO.
The Democratic senator said Palin, who said Tuesday shes considering challenging him for his seat in 2014, might not even be a resident of Alaska and is someone he wont take seriously unless she emerges from a competitive Republican primary.
I dont know if shes a resident. Shes been away from Alaska a lot and has probably lost touch with whats going on. She should go to my webpage, Begich said. Most Alaskans I see on a pretty regular basis, but I havent seen her for a long time.
During an interview Wednesday with POLITICO, Begich questioned four times whether Palin is even a resident of the state she once governed and said his campaign wont go on the offensive against Palin unless she can handle Joe Miller and Lt. Gov. Mead Treadwell in a primary.
A Republican primary in Alaska? She may not survive, he said, one of a bundle of choice remarks for the former vice presidential candidate.
Begich, a former mayor of Anchorage, has known Palin for years. He said his sister played basketball with Palin but theres no love lost between the two.
I take every candidate seriously that is if shes still a resident, but you know she quit on Alaska what she was governor, Begich said. Shes been somewhat vacant from the state and quit on the state, so I wish her the best on her potential run.

She should hold a press conference and show everyone her birth certificate.
If Sarah Palin is smart she will never run for Senate. The Senate is evil, and there is no reforming it.
Yes, and I drove by the house last August when visiting my son. The neighbor’s house is extremely close and slightly above Palin’s. By the way, the Palin family was at home then.
Not wanting to start a flame war here - just asking. Why would you think that she would not be a US citizen?
Native of Idaho actually. Moved to Alaska as a very young child.
Actually, the Permanent Fund set the qualification for being an Alaska resident.
When I moved from Alaska back to Texas, bought a house in Texas and registered to Vote in Texas, I was still paying property taxes on the house we had not sold in Alaska. Paying property taxes doesn’t make you a resident, or I would be a resident in three different states.
Hillary became a first time NY state resident in Sept 1999 and was elected Senator in Nov 2000.
Sarah has plenty of time to reestablish residency, if in fact she is no longer an Alaska resident. But it sounds like a Democrat wishful thinking red herring.
Boing!
And her electric bill.
I paid property taxes on the home I couldn’t sell in Alaska after I started voting again in Texas. Property taxes don’t make you a resident.
Maybe she walked here from Russia?
Where is she registered to vote?
Yeah, ain't that rich?
And he owes his seat to the election week indictment of his opponent which later proved to be bogus, totally groundless and politically motivated.
Begich may not be quite as bad as your typical turd-bird Democrat, but Alaska can do a LOT better.
Zactly!!!
I have friends who have 5 and more homes and even more who have two or more homes.
They claim their residency wherever they claim their residency and live at the other places when visiting those areas.
Good place to bump this thread. I’ll bet the PDSers will be all over this.
Palin is an executive, she doesn’t want to be in the Senate. I doubt very much she will run. Plus, she wants and needs to continue to make some real money.
Palin and her family went through Hell and back; at minimum she deserves true financial security for everything she sacrified.
Exactly
Who?......A seated Democrat Senator
Who should care? Him!
He's scared and you can just feel the vicious attacks brewing in the back room that he's going to use against Palin should she decide to run for Alaska Senate......
