Is Sarah Palin teasing us again?
CNN ^ | July 10, 2013 | Erin McPike

Posted on 07/11/2013 2:22:33 AM PDT by Innovative

"If she runs, it's going to instantly become the most covered, the most scrutinized, the most hotly debated Senate race of the 2014 cycle," Geraghty said.

American Conservative Union chairman Al Cardenas said Republicans have a 50-50 chance of taking the majority back in the Senate in next year's midterm elections, and said it's an even more significant possibility if Palin runs for the Alaska seat.

"If she runs, all the odds are off the table," he said. "She would win a general election."

"The benefits of having her as a U.S. senator and helping us get back the majority so far outweigh any distractions that might be caused," Cardenas said.

Palin has until June 2, 2014, to file paperwork to run.

She might be very powerful in the Senate, but what about the Presidency?

“But what about the growing chorus of Republicans who say they would rather see her leave the party than create any new buzz?”

Funny, the article doesn’t quote any Republicans saying that at all. Just which ones, I wonder, would be singing that tune?

She’s so irrelevant they continue to comment about her, slobbering and frothing. Oh look! She left the Governorship of Alaska due to corruption charges! Sure. That’s why when her enemies searched 24,000 emails and couldn’t find so much as a swear word. They just keep the lies coming.

Obama was elected Senator in 2006 and we know what happened in 2008. I wonder if the media would get tongue tied over that one./sarc

I believe the politics here have become as morally bankrupt as the politicians. We probably spend enough money having some NSA goons pour over our comments on this thread to feed all the orphans in China and Africa combined.

Is that a drone I hear outside?

Gotta go!

Palin is not a player since she would buck the status quo.

Enough of our citizens must stand up and buck it or we are lost.

Sarah Palin’s a truly great woman; perhaps that’s why the liberal press go so far out of their way to trash and bad-mouth her.

If she does decide to challenge the sitting AK senator, it will be interesting to see how Alaskans respond, considering she resigned her governorship half-way through her term.

==

Many thought she played the ‘coy’ game too long in 2012 — will she or won’t she run for the GOP nomination?

If her delayed declination was intention, let us hope she makes her intentions known early into the 2016 presidential cycle. The GOP-conservatives need a ‘solid’ contender early enough to be a real challenge to the GOP-elite contender.

She explicitly said she wanted to leave the party, and I saw were 12,000 Freepers screaming DO IT! DO IT!

It’s definitely the Conservative wing of the party that wants her to leave.

All that is still true. Her future is indeterminate.

I made a decision to be an American and vote. I did not act sanctimoniously, pat my self on the back and fail to do my civic duty.

I am not one of the self righteous nonvoters that got Obama elected.

She will not run for Senate.

A loss would mean a big financial hit for the reality shows, books, pundit money & speaking fees.

And I think a win might result in *less* visibility for her as she becomes 1 of 100 (or 1 of 535) while having to spend most of her time in DC, away from family.

People understand the power of the Presidency, but seem to forget or dismiss the power of the Senate majority leader and the Speaker of the House.

At best, a president gets 8 years. How long could one be Senate leader or speaker of the House?

How different our world might be if someone with Ted Cruz's mindset and ability was in that position instead of Reid or McConnell.

Sounds pretty good to me!

Wake up!!! She did not have the FINANCIAL resources to stay as governor. A grocery list of fake ethics charges, the fighting of which she would have been forced to PERSONALLy finance. She and her family will have faced total financial ruin.
The nanosecond she resigned, the “ETHICS” charges vanished from the universe, only to surface when a need to criticize her arises.
I want to know...those who refuse to acknowledge the reason for her resignation have themselves the courage and/or fortitude to voluntarily face financial destitution.

I understand what you say. It does not answer the question. Is Alaska different now?

The fact she has money to do battle does not provide a measure of her support for Senate

Conservatives viewed the race in Deleaware through glasses so rose colored the truth was not visible. I honestly seek the truth about Sarah’s real support

It appears that he, ahem, overestimated it.

she tried to setup a legal defense fund similar to the clintons...but it was dissallowed even though it was identical to other pol's LDFs and approved by legal experts. the phony reason given....she was a sitting governor.

She immediately set up a second legal defense fun when the first one was wrongly shut down.

It is still in operation today. If you google her name with the phrase legal defense fund, you can find it.

The first one was shut down by a judge. If I recall, a judge ruled it illegal because it had the word “official” on the website.

The judge forced her to return all of the donations. Then she immediately started her new one, which still is in operation today.

I doubt you could get a real metric of her support unless she decided to run. I know that sounds lame, but until she actually throws her hat into the ring, the depth of support or lack thereof won't be seen. Until she actually confronts the Alaska population with a campaign, explaining herself in her own words, answering charges against her of quitting, abuse of power as a governor, or any of the other silly things said about her, we won't know how Alaskans will respond.

Those who think there is a poll that could show us the depth of Alaska's feelings and willingness to vote for or against her, one that will shed light on a potential Senate race in 2014 I have a bridge to sell them in Brooklyn........
