Two weeks after the end of his failed vice-presidential bid, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) was already thinking ahead to another big fight: immigration reform. And he was thinking about it in a bipartisan way. Ryan ran into his old friend, Rep. Luis V. Gutierrez (D-Ill.), and urged him to restart his effort to get a comprehensive immigration package through Congress. Ryan’s arguments stemmed from a religious and economic foundation, not from the huge political liability the issue had become for the Republican Party during the 2012 presidential campaign.

It’s too bad Ryan didn’t put this much effort in winning the election.
Well duh. Paul Ryan was attending immigration rallies with crook Luis Gutierrez, that was all I needed to know that Ryan is a self-interested corrupt turd.
I can understand the desire for comprehensive immigration reform. Our current system is disfunctional and we have no mechanism to control illegal immigration.
The problem is that it is impossible for Congress to come up with a comprehensive plan that addresses the illegal immigration problem. Any plan that can be passed will include all of the amnesty and citizenship goodies, but the hard work of controlling the border and employment will be left undone. This will always be the case until a large enough group of Constitutional conservatives can be elected to pass border enforcement and employment control first.
The way the Congress is stacked now, the only winning move on immigration reform is not to play.
As I been warning this for a while, talk radios been propping Ryan up as a respectable conservative hero starting as early as 2010 . They helped create this monster.
Notice his joke budget resolutions never got near being law and his record on sequester is pathetic.
1) He must be planning a 2016 run, the only explaination
2) He must be having difficulty playing the House's version of Rubio selling these ideas in House.
I like him citing being a Catholic as a reason. The Catholic Church roasted him for cutting poverty programs in his mythical budget resolutions, poverty programs that go to u-know-who.
He's going to give them the vote and cut their kids food stamps and school meals? And this is Ryan's plan for winning 2016??

Unbelievable....these people in the DC fog actually think constitutional conservatives will ever vote for these traitors, however bad the “worst of two evils” is?
No, it isn't. Enforcement of the current system is disfunctional. Make EVerify the law of the land, fine and jail anyone who abets the invaders, and give rewards to US citizens who turn in invaders, alive and unharmed.
The only "pathway to citizenship" for the invaders who steal our jobs and government benefits is to practice it in their homelands!
There is no "desire for comprehensive immigration reform" among real constitutional conservatives who want to save the US!
Given his background, I am going to presume that Ryan has bought into the argument that our demographic cratering is going to lead to a rapid crash of Baby Boomer entitlements unless fresh blood and tax payments are pumped into the system quickly.
That is what is driving this with Republicans IMO. Which they are afraid to admit cause it points the finger back at them for screwing-up the spending so badly.

Yes, I feel dirty. Do you feel better now? Romney/Ryan wasn’t my choice but I did believe they would be better than Obama. I still believe that.
If the Republicans pass this mess, I will not play the hold-the-nose game again. I only commit to vote for my Senator, Ted Cruz, in 2018, that will be the only vote Republicans will get from me.
Our immigration system is dysfunctional ONLY because the government won’t follow it’s own laws! Plus, even IF we need reform - we need to deal with the border first and then maybe deal with the illegals here but the ideal that we need comprehensive reform is elites ruses to not close the borders and pass amnesty

Only it never seems to be resolved.
There’s a reason it never gets resolved. Once resolved, it can never be used in the next election cycle.
Now its primary goal is to further divide conservatives thus damaging our goals to save the nation.
Ryan’s decent and honest man. Attacking him without understanding the full scope of the battle only weakens our position.
We do have a system, it is called enforcement of the existing laws.
What is really dysfunctional is our LEGAL IMMIGRATION system, which imports too many immigrants--1.2 million annually more than the rest of the world combined--with too little skills and education. Legal immigration is a much bigger problem than illegal immigration.

The “full scope”? We are “led” by people, Ryan among them, who are actively conspiring to annihilate this Nation!
Adding 11 million illegals, plus the 20-30 million that will tag along by various loopholes provided in the Senate legislation is an irrevocable death sentence to America. People who advocate this, and actively plot to see that it happens have thereby shown themselves to be not only untrustworthy, but our active enemies.
“Punked by the left”? No, merely seeing things with a bit more clarity. There is a right, and a wrong side. Ryan has aligned himself with the wrong side. He has abrogated my trust. Permanently.
