Edward Snowden gives a news conference at Sheremetyevo airport in Moscow with human rights activists Edward Snowden (centre) gives a news conference at Sheremetyevo airport in Moscow with human rights activists.

The American whistleblower Edward Snowden has accused the US of waging a campaign of "historically disproportionate aggression" against him during an extraordinary meeting with human rights activists and Russian officials at the Moscow airport where he has been trapped since 23 June.

In his first appearance since disclosing his identity in the Guardian last month, Snowden insisted he had no regrets and had made a "moral decision" to leak dozens of secret documents outlining US surveillance programmes. He also announced he would apply for political asylum from the Kremlin and appealed to those present for help in leaving the airport.

The US has lobbied governments around the world to refuse entry to Snowden and has invalidated his US passport.

Last week, a plane carrying the Bolivian president, Evo Morales, was grounded in Vienna after several European countries blocked their airspace amid suspicions that Snowden was on board.

To add a Barf Alert would be redundant. The title implicit enough to have you barf without having to mention it. This is one of the most bizarre scenarios of recent memory. Snowden, egregious traitor, condemning the US for an illegal, historically disproportionate aggression in Moscow with human rights activists. Has Rod Serling been spotted as of yet up yet?

I am not siding with Obama on this. Not at all.

The Obaminions declared that Snowden was unimportant and that he didn’t have anything truly important in terms of intelligence. And then they turned around and performed an act of war against a sovereign nation by forcing their President’s airplane down?

Something stinks and that’s nothing new with Obama and I absolutely don’t know why so many people on FR are so eager to go along with the Kenyan-in-Chief on this or any other topic.

Snowden has done the equivelant of telling the east germans that they’re living in a total surveillance socialist police state. Of course, wait for the FR government cheerleaders to run to the rescue of their government master, aka the gravy train. Unfortunately, it’s the 95% of government employees who make the other 5% of the honest ones look bad.

No problem. Just jerking your chain :)

That thing is starting to take on an OJ type annoying presence. I’m just glad I don’t have cable now.

"historically disproportionate aggression"

That's exactly right. Do you remember this kind of campaign against any American fugitive? Snowden must have something, or is suspected of having something real damaging to the enemy of the America, that is to the present US government. (Which, by the way, seems to have its faithful supporters and useful idiots on this forum.)

You are overwhelmingly correct that something does indeed stink one that emanates from the highest echelons of this government. The Greek saying that the fish stinks from the head goes doubly for the current administration.

You are a dupe of the MSM and the Zero regime.

All roads lead to Zimmerman, I am afraid, don't know exactly why. It is simply a matter of getting something posted just to write something no matter how obtuse or unrelated it may be.

It reminds me of one particular loser who chastised me for putting in the wrong date, which was actually an updated version requiring the new date. It just that they don't anything really intellectual to offer.

Sarah Palin was right, and showed her leadership quality by demonstrating an ability to discern, when she said that Snowden is not important, what’s important are the crimes that he exposed.

So was Hitler perceived from his sympathizers, admirers as a good guy from the same shameful political perspective you have toward Snowden.

Good luck you, you're going to need it.
