The Zimmerman case has achieved its sublime reductio ad absurdum.
Just when I thought the George Zimmerman “trial” couldn’t sink any lower, the prosecutorial limbo dancers of the State of Florida magnificently lowered their own bar in the final moments of their cable-news celebrity. In real justice systems, the state decides what crime has been committed and charges somebody with it. In the Zimmerman trial, the state’s “theory of the case” is that it has no theory of the case: might be murder, might be manslaughter, might be aggravated assault, might be a zillion other things, but it’s something. If you’re a juror, feel free to convict George Zimmerman of whatever floats your boat...

My own feeling is that the Allegedly Reverend Al Sharpton, now somewhat emaciated and underbouffed from his Tawana Brawley heyday, is not the Tahrir Square–scale race-baiting huckster he once was. But if Floridians are of a mind to let off a little steam, they might usefully burn down the Sanford courthouse and salt the earth. The justice system revealed by this squalid trial is worth rioting over.

How can the black community at large condone and commit acts of lawlessness and still demand justice without the consequences falling upon them, too? I'm running low on sympathy.

The news media created this whole thing.the media never report on any blacks killing whites, no home invasions nothing but this wasn't even a crime , not even a local story the media made into something everyone is thinking and talking aout. ditto about the newtown shooting. both of these the main reason is to take away our gun rights. and we all play along , even steyn, giving attention to it. who says the media doesn't control everything?
At least the Monty Python Show had some redeeming social value.

The judge is a pathetic glory-hunter dreaming of higher office and a fatter paycheck.
Her ignorance of the law, inability to organize a handful of people and transparent attempts to bluff her way through has placed her at the front of this parade of villains.
I remain angry and dismayed that we even know about this case but if it has to serve as a fulcrum point for changing this corrupt system it may serve some small purpose.
Finally, a riot I can support.

When I was in HS in Longwood in the 60s, we used to joke about a Sanford girl who would supposedly drop her panties for a pound of balogna.
I haven't been through or in Sanford in decades, but it sounds like it hasn't progressed much.
But, as sucky as central Florida is (and it does indeed suck), I honestly think that this would have played out the same way in many other parts of the country. The race hustlers would not have it otherwise; nor would our "post racial president" and his racist sycophants in the MSM; nor would our gutless pandering politicians like Rick Scott.

I know that I will. I voted for both them. It is a mistake that I will not make again.

This is actually approaching the levels of Soviet-era “show trials”, where everyone involved, including the defendant, knew what the outcome of the trial would be well in advance of stepping into the courtroom. Really disturbing.
I’m just dumbfounded that a prosecutor can bring a new charge at the conclusion of a trial.
