Zimmerman Verdict In Martin Case Shows Justice’s Flaws
Wa Po ^ | 7/15/13 | Ruth Marcus

Did the system work? Was justice served? We like to think of those questions as identical. After all, the point of a criminal justice system is to dispense justice. But with the acquittal of George Zimmerman on charges of murdering Trayvon Martin, the system worked, yet justice fell short. This outcome is simultaneously sad but healthy — sad because a 17-year-old boy is dead and his killer walks free; healthy because the verdict seems justified as a matter of law ...

... No doubt race played a role in Martin’s death. Zimmerman likely would not have called the police about a white teenager — even a white teenager wearing a hoodie — walking back from a 7-Eleven.

If a clairvoyant Zimmerman did know that Mr. Martin was carrying two of the ingredients for Lean, http://therealrevo.com/blog/?p=75112, lacking only the cough syrup, he may actually have been more focused on what Martin was doing.

I am getting sick and tired of reading where these politicians are denouncing the verdict. As citizens we are expected to accept the rule of law and the jury’s verdict. If we have to accept these things so should they.

........yeah, I hit a guy many moons ago and he went into a coma.................thank god he came out! My point: In certain circumstances, any ONE of those blows raining down on George from Trayvon COULD HAVE killed him, or worse, put him in a COMA for decades to come. George is one LUCKY guy.

The libs that really piss me off make fun of him for being out there period claiming he was “acting out” and “fantasizing about being a cop”. No he wasn’t! He was providing a service to his HOA! He was out there in the dark because his neighborhood, as a group, obviously felt it necessary and asked him, or it was his turn, or whatever ! If not him, it likely could have and would have been someone else. All this whole case proves is that the system (inside the courtroom) did work notwithstanding that there never should have been a trial in the first place. This whole affair was just placating the lefty base of the democrat party. Period. We’ve seen it all before and we will see it again.

Crump has a law degree, too, so I'd say they've become seriously devalued.

"I got a law degree!" "So what?"

Michelle Obama has a law degree from Harvard.

They're so valuable, you don't even need to practice law to get rich from it.

No doubt race played a role in Martin’s death. Zimmerman likely would not have called the police about a white teenager — even a white teenager wearing a hoodie — walking back from a 7-Eleven.

The sine qua non of this case is the fact that Trayvon Martin tried to bash in George Zimmerman's head for more than 45 seconds after George Zimmerman indicated clearly and unambiguously that he wanted Trayvon Martin to stop. The 911 tape clearly indicates that someone was screaming for at least that much time, eyewitness accounts indicate that someone was trying to bash in someone else's head, and George Zimmerman is the only person's head to have taken any damage. If a white person would have been just as likely as a black person to have tried to bash in George Zimmerman's head in the way Trayvon Martin did, then a white person would have been just as likely to get shot.

Big talk for a person hiding behind armed security guards everywhere she goes. Most of us don’t have that luxury. We have to provide it ourselves or rely on neighbors, such as the NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH!

:: Aside, this journalist is making an assumption ::

That may be open to a libel suit by Mr. Zimmerman.

The media continues to dig the hole deeper.

This case is not about Skittles, Ice Tea, justice, racism, killing, self-defense, Creepy-ass cracker or white Hispanics.

This whole charade is about a culture of selfish, evil ignorance and smarmy socialist power.

And, FYI, she’s got a law degree - if you can believe that ...

There is no objectivity, or even a scintilla of logic, in the liberal mindset. They actually believe they have the moral high ground. The ability to live and work for the American dream, being destroyed before their very eyes, is the proof.

This ain't about Saint Skittles.

It's about disarming potential crime victims so Eric Holder's people aren't in danger when they attack non-Eric Holder's people.

The criminal justice system is meant first to determine whether a person is guilty of breaking a law. If, based on the facts it is found that no laws were broken and the person exonerated by the court, then justice has been served. End of story. Anyone who believes Zimmerman should be jailed even though he broke no law should picture themselves in Zimmermans position and then ask; what would they have done. Zimmerman had every right to do what was expected of him as the neighbor watchman and it WAS Trayvon Martin who chose to be the aggressor and started beating on Zimmerman for simply doing his job of watching out for his neighborhood. Zimmerman was in no way acting malicious, but the same can not be said of Trayvon Martin. KARMA happens.

“On the 911 recording, Z did say “I think he is black.””

Eventually...after being specifically asked to determine that...and after originally not knowing.

Ruth Marcus is dimwitted enough that she clearly has a hard time understanding, let alone reconciling, the cacophony of foolish voices running through her own head, and yet somehow she is a psychic mind reader of impeccable skill and training who can tell us not only what was going through Zimmerman's mind at the time of the shooting but also what would likely have gone through his mind in a totally different situation.

Watch out, Miss Cleo, there's a new competitor in town.
