The European Jewish Association (EJA) on Monday called on all Jewish organizations throughout the world to put aside their differences and unite all their efforts towards reversing the Polish parliaments decision to ban kosher slaughter in the country, reported the European Jewish Press (EJP).
On Friday, the lower house of the Polish parliament, the Sejm, rejected a government-sponsored bill to enable the continuation of kosher shechita, or slaughter of animals intended for food.
Ritual slaughter has been banned in Poland since January 1 after a Constitutional Court deemed it incompatible with animal rights law.
We must unite all our efforts to fight this legislation which can potentially contribute to Jewish exclusion and to violate Jewish freedom of religion and worship throughout Europe, specifically in Poland, with all its symbolic significance to Jewish history, said EJA Director General Rabbi Menachem Margolin, according to EJP.

So, do the Poles eat beef?
Of course they do, and those cows are being "slaughtered" for meat every day.
Just more meddling by the greenies.
Kosher slaughter has been in Poland for how many
hundreds of years?
Yes, but I doubt their throats are being slit.
But to the point, this seems to have been raised by greenies under the influence of the Green Party in Germany
Curious how different Halal is from Kosher.
I had the same thought. Somebody on FR knows.
The thinking is that since the cattle are not stunned, it is a “worse” death for the cows. Having seen Kosher slaughtering plants, it is basically old fashioned slaughtering. The same thing in many ways to what my grandfather did.
Wouldn't want to do it to a steer hanging in mid air though. Great way to get kicked.
Every animal that is slaughtered for food, has it’s blood drained. In most cases, the best way to do that to this day is to hang it upside down, cut its throat and let the blood drain out.
The point is, whether it is beef, chicken, pigs, etc. they all have to be slaughtered before we eat them and someone does that work. Regardless of how small a percentage Beef is to that, in a country of millions, it is going to mean a LOTY of cows being slaughtered each day.
Canceling Kosher slaughter is nothing but a purely political symbolic gesture aimed at satisfying a very small group of people in a special interest group. People in Poland eat meat, so animals by the millions continue to be slaughtered. It’s a part of life.
Nothing but? Oh no; it’s far bigger than that. There is no question who is being attacked here.
That shows the Greens for who they are, in that case.
Disappointed in the Poles caving to the Greenies.
"Curious" in this case means that I was curious to know the differences, if any, between kosher and halal. I was not implying that there was anything odd about either practice, but simply that I did not know what made foods kosher or halal. While I cannot speak for Rodamala, I believe he meant the same thing.
I’m hardly an expert on animal slaughter, but I have watched videos of cattle being killed by bolt gun. They are “shot” while standing within a metal frame and are then lifted up to be exsanguinated. I’m sure there are those who have hidden agendas on this issue, but they are probably in the minority.
Poland has lost all my sympathy.
And the biggest difference is that during Kosher they bless God, while in halal they call on the name of Allah
“Poland has lost all my sympathy.”
LOL ! It’s not that there was much of it anyway :)))
I’ve not seen any Kosher killing, but I have seen Moslem halal killing of goats, cows and chickens and it was cruel. The Moslem slit the neck of the chicken and dumped it in a bucket to scream and drown in it’s own blood. the ones with the goat and cow were less cruel, basically grabbing the animal, holding it down and slitting it’s neck
