The IRS scandal was connected this week not just to the Washington officethat had been establishedbut to the office of the chief counsel.
That is a bombshellsuch a big one that it managed to emerge in spite of an unfocused, frequently off-point congressional hearing in which some members seemed to have accidentally woken up in the middle of a committee room, some seemed unaware of the implications of what their investigators had uncovered, one pretended that the investigation should end if IRS workers couldn't say the president had personally called and told them to harass his foes, and one seemed to be holding a filibuster on Pakistan.
Still, what landed was a bombshell. And Democrats know it. Which is why they are so desperate to make the investigation go away. They know, as Republicans do, that the chief counsel of the IRS is one of only two Obama political appointees in the entire agency.
The IRS chief counsel is named William Wilkins. And again, he is one of only two Obama political appointees in the IRS.

I think Wilkins should be imprisoned for life. Personally, Im not above the death penalty, either. This is treason as a most basic level.

But is there any doubt that, like the people in the Cincinatti office, he was just following orders? I hope we get a reading on how many visits to the White House were logged by Wilkins. Maybe some clever Freeper can dig that out for us. I’m betting that, in the end, we will find that the Dragon Lady herself was in charge of this operation. If so, I would definitely rule out the death penalty. Perhaps 23 hours a day in an 8 by 4 ft. cell would be more appropriate.
And in an interesting twist, Wilkins appears to have led the defense team of former Obama pastor Jeremiah Wright and the United Church of Christ in Chicago back in 2008. The UCC was under investigation by the IRS at the time for being violation of its 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. The Wall Street Journal reports that Wilkins apparently did the legal work for Wright and UCC pro bono.
Why? They're certainly intending to do that to you. Oh yeah, now it's just taking your freedoms from you in the form of political oppression against your 1A rights, but next it's onto more harsher tacks. You don't think the DHS and all their other government agency brothers are stockpiling upwards of a trillion rounds of ammo for nothing do you? MRAPs, Helicopters, Personal Defense Weapons (what they call assault rifles for their own people).. They aren't preparing all that for your benefit. Death penalty - nothing less.
Republicans wont push anything. They dont like upsetting the Democrats.
*******
In my opinion, its long past time for Republicans to drop civility routine. The regime is clearly engaging in illegal tactics to intimidate American voters. This scandal is an appalling abuse of power that strikes at the very heart of our democracy. Republicans need to man up, for once, and directly confront this outrage in the strongest terms.
Note to clueless Republicans: People will rally behind you if you can summon up the political courage to do this.
What about the head of the IRS, who practically lived at the White House (hundreds of visits, whereas his predecessor under Bush had made exactly four visits)?
Noonan is, for once, right: the GOP has got to up its game. A good start has been made - and for those of you who expect instant results, remember that even the Dem-dominated investigation into the unpopular Nixon took two years to get to anything substantial - but now they have to keep pushing.
“Youre right, the Republican leadership will cave on this like they do with everything else. They are only good at one thing: snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.”
Is it any surprise that Boehner has not appointed a select committee? Do you suppose the IRS has a few important bits of info concerning Boehner?
Nothing touches Obama.
*******
The country will pay a huge price for the naive mistake in electing this clown. There is always a price to pay for stupidity, and we are about to get the mother-of-all bills for it.
for those of you who expect instant results
*******
I don’t think its a matter of expecting instant results so much as it is expecting the Republicans to get serious (for once) and take it to the Dems with bare knuckle tactics. That is exactly what the Dems would do to us.
Do you suppose the IRS has a few important bits of info concerning Boehner?
********
I suppose that the docile Boehner has been compromised — in more than one way.
Doesn't have to. Leftists all know the agenda, and they know that the pres would cover for him. Green light - GO!
I agree.
Until the MSM becomes indignant (they ARE the conscience of the country) concerning this and all the other scandals besieging this admin, the story is going ......nowhere.
Chances of that happening is....Zer0.
And Nixon & Assoc. were not that good at it. They had Gordon Liddy, but did not account for John Dean.
The current Cast of Criminals have it down to an art. BUT, they are still but men.
SQUIRREL!!!!
Squeeze the right pimple and they will pop.
Good grief.
Is it possible to clean up all of the DC crime, corruption and treason without another 1776?
How many “bombshells” have gone off since the Clintons were in office? “Bombshell-this” and “bombshell-that”. That term is as overused as “breaking news” on Fox news.
What are the expected results? So a congressional committee proves malfeasance and corruption via its oversight acivities. Who prosecutes? Who punishes? That is in the hands of other federal minions, the higher ups who are presidential appointees. There is no deserved outcome here without the honest particpation of the federal legal and judicial system coupled with daily outrage from the media and honest Democratic Party politicians Ain’t gonna happen.
Among other things, they tried to impeach Nixon just for wanting to use the IRS against his enemies.
Obama actually did it.
