Columbia, S.C.-South Carolina's second largest health insurer is pulling out of the state.
The company says it's mainly due to the Affordable Care Act.
About 28-thousand people in South Carolina have health insurance with the Carolina Care Plan. It is part of Medical Mutual of Ohio.
The company says it is leaving the state because of the Affordable Care Act.
Spokesman Ed Byers says, "Under new regulations, which are vast and quite complex, it is in our best interest to focus on our core market of Ohio where we are headquartered and have been doing business successfully for nearly 80 years."
Do the 28,000 lose their insurance? Or is the company going to continue insuring them from Ohio?

They are going to be on their own to find new insurance.

Pulling out means they will no longer be doing business in that state.
But...but..I thought that you could KEEP your current health plan. Oh, yeah, now the line is “you MAY be able to keep your current health plan”. Sorry, Bamm-Bamm...the Internet has a long, long memory.

Under current laws, the insurance company can’t.
Before Jan 1 there will be millions losing their insurance and/or doctors.
I lost a doctor in SC because he closed his office due to obamacare. Now I’m trying to find another doctor as good as he was, which in small town is not easy to do.
A friend of mine who works there is losing her job.
