Actor James Woods: 'People Lock Their Car Doors When Obama Walks By...They're Afraid He'll Tax Them to Death' By Noel Sheppard Created 07/20/2013 - 12:41pm

Emmy Award-winning actor James Woods had some harsh words for the President Friday.

Shortly after Barack Obama finished his address concerning race and the George Zimmerman verdict - which included comments about people locking their car doors when black men walk by - Woods tweeted, "The only reason people lock their car doors when Obama walks by is they are afraid he'll tax them to death":

Just curious. Does the President of the United States have any advice for other teenage boys in America? Wounded warriors, for example... — James Woods (@RealJamesWoods) July 19, 2013

ALL youth of every heritage in this country would benefit from jobs and manageable student loans, NOT a bloated Welfare State — James Woods (@RealJamesWoods) July 19, 2013

The only reason people lock their car doors when Obama walks by is they are afraid he'll tax them to death... — James Woods (@RealJamesWoods) July 20, 2013

Woods continued his rant Saturday:

Racial integration has worked in the Armed Forces because everyone has a job, gets training in a skill, and MUST respect the rank of others — James Woods (@RealJamesWoods) July 20, 2013

The race issues in America that have bedeviled this nation for decades could be greatly resolved with JOBS and EDUCATION and SKILLS TRAINING — James Woods (@RealJamesWoods) July 20, 2013

Respect comes from personal industry and achievement. A common goal to rebuild the country, like the WPA and CCC, could do wonders. — James Woods (@RealJamesWoods) July 20, 2013

For those unfamiliar with Woods, his breakout role was in 1979's "The Onion Field" for which he received his first Golden Globe nomination.

He then starred in Sergio Leone's spectacular "Once Upon a Time in America" followed by Oliver Stone's "Salvador" and "Nixon."

He has won three Emmy Awards for made for television movies "Promise" and "My Name Is Bill W.," and for the animated series Hercules.

His voice has also appeared on Family Guy and The Simpsons.

There was story around that he was on an airliner Pre-9/11 and reported to authorities that he witnessed a practice run for a hijacking.... Went nowhere

Well, his career is over.

He's retirement age already. But he's made comments like this before and it hasn't hurt him much. Strictly political comments don't always make big waves -- so long as you don't antagonize a whole demographic group.

Jimmy's been erratic in his political views and his personal life, but he's more right than wrong and has more insight than a lot of celebs. Maybe it has to do with his having gone to MIT. Or maybe with his father (who died in 1960) having been a career military man.

Yes, he does have an extremely high IQ. Rightwingers usually do.

One of my favorite horrors-action movies until now is VAMPIRES. He played the head of the Vatican’s US hunter team. Wished every vampire hunter would be as bad ass as his character instead of the Ruroweenie emo approach.

Superb actor, mostly in somewhat quirky and/or bad guy roles. I believe he also attended MIT. A major exception to the general rule about the average intelligence level of actors, which hovers at or a bit below room temperature farenheit.

He said on 9/11 the FBI called and told him they wanted to talk to him. He asked when and where. They told him they were sitting in their cars in front of his house.

re: “I do not believe that. Jon Voight was asked in a TV interview about concerns of new acting jobs after making conservative statements. He said that he was not worried about any new acting jobs because ‘there are plenty of conservative producers and directors in Hollywood.’ They simply are not as outspoken and vile as those on the left.”

True. Hope you are right.

I saw most of that movie on TV years ago and never saw it again. It was a good movie and I hoped I would see it again. He was good in Once Upon A Time In America with Deniro.

Sad no one posted this song from ‘Family Guy’

Peter: Someone to care for, to be there for. I have James Woods.

James: Someone to do for, muddle through for. You have James Woods.

Peter: Someone to share joy or despair with, whichever betides you.

James: Life becomes a chore...

Both: Unless you’re living for...

Peter: Someone to tend to, be a friend to. I have James Woods.

James: Someone to strive for, do or die for. You have James Woods.

Both: It’s true, we two, have a likewise point of view.

James: Because James Woods has you.

Peter: And I have James Woods, too!

He is also the voice of ‘Hades’ any time Disney needs a voice for him. He LOVES that roll.

Yeah, I liked it quite a bit also and was sorry to see it go I think the overall problem became Woods was not able to carry the show. He was great in his role and the plots were fun and interesting for sure.

Woods reported some middle eastern men acting suspiciously on a flight he was on, but the FBI didn’t take it seriously. A few weeks later 9/11 happened.

He didn't notify the FBI when he saw the men. He mentioned their strange behavior (not eating, not drinking, not talking to the flight attendants, etc) to the flight attendant, and said it creeped him out, but she said they weren't doing anything to disrupt the flight, so she couldn't do anything about them. The following week was the 9/11 attacks, and when he heard that it was carried out by Middle Eastern men, he immediately called the FBI, and they came to question him the following day. I never heard that he actually identified any of the killers, but I wouldn't be surprised.

We enjoyed his TV show, "Shark", but one of my favorite movies of his is "True Believer", in which he plays a pony-tailed, tired out, liberal lawyer, a la William Kuntsler.

I enjoyed “Shark” also, and was disappointed that it didn’t stay on air. Was it a victim of the writers strike?

Mr Woods saw the light on 9/11 when he realized he was on a dry run for the high jacking a week before...
