The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's newborn son will 'suck the blood' of Russia in the mid-21st century and should therefore not be celebrated, a controversial Russian politician declared today. Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the leader of the nationalist Liberal Democrat Party, declared 'I don't care about the heir' before accusing the British monarchy of 'destroying our state'. The outspoken politician made his attention-grabbing comments in an interview with the state-run newspaper Rio Novosti.

It makes sense if you remember what the Russian commies did with their royals.

If the choices are Brad and Angelina vs Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip, sorry Brad and Angelina...

Britain is run differently. I could care less.

I think their reverence for their royalty suits them.

I wouldn’t want that here, but then it wasn’t a part of our culture by choice to begin with. We escaped that and other cultures to come here and develop our own.

I don’t know if he’s going to suck Russian blood. But they are a waste of space and money. Never understood why the Common Wealth puts up with them, the primary purpose they serve is done by C list celebrities in America, they’re handy for ribbon cuttings at grocery stores and malls, but they cost a lot more.

Just think; without the monarchy, the only cultural leadership they’d have would be from the Anglican Church, which thinks gay marriage and having sharia law in various parts of UK would be a nice thing

Well, the Queen came out in favor of gays marrying, so we're down to Sharia, and I'm not really certain they Royals are on the right side of that issue, either.

Maybe if enough royals engage in gay marriage we can get rid of the line.

The Alou name always reminds of a dugout antic in "Ball Four" (or its successor).

Can't remember if it was him or one of his brothers, sitting in the dugout, when his bench mate, picking his nose, pulls out a long clinger, and wipes it on Alou's jersey.

Alou had an epic germaphobe meltdown, running for the showers, almost as fast as Jesse Jackson or Chuckie Schumer running for a camera.

Zactly ... although Zhirinovsky is more talented.

If the baby was a girl, I was hoping that she would be named Nannette. Since it’s a boy, my suggestion is that he be named Morley or Doyle, after Morley Drury or Doyle Nave, star quarterbacks for the USC Trojans.

IOW, he’s saying England could take over Russia in a sweet minute. Perhaps he could take his concerns to Putin.

If you don't want to celebrate the birth, don't. I guess you are mad because you didn't get an invite to the royal wedding!!

I guess they won't expect a baby gift from you!

“Some of the weak and anti-American pray for a King.”

Gag.

Are some of you under the impression that you are channeling the founding fathers by lashing out at people that have done nothing to you, but mean a great deal to millions of people?

I would pray for the safety and health of Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles III, William V, and whomever this child will be known as.

She doesn’t come for or against anything. She signs what her “government” hands her, and reads the speeches they hand her. She reigns, not rules.

"They're handy for ribbon-cutting.....but they cost a lot more."

You must live in a cave. For a couple of centuries British royals have brought in billions just by virtue of being there and who they are.

Their romances, babies, scandals, weddings, divorces, funerals, coronations, blunders, jubilees, castles, carriages, pomp and circumstances, changings of the guard, crown jewels exhibits, you name it......have brought tourists by the millions to "this scepter'd isle" over time.

In a small island with few natural resources except the resilience of its people, the British national income generated by royals looms large in the country's economy.

My cousin, a British born citizen is retired in a London suburb after a career as an opera singer. He told me the world-famous Covent Garden Opera house is continually jammed with tourists.

By contrast, our country's royal families, disingenuously called "dynasties", generate no such interest or income by their celebrity, in fact, they probably repel tourists who would rather see a Florida highway alligator farm than catch views of the Emperor Obama, his consort Michelle Antoinette, his court of thugs and his 38 royal Czars.
