Rachel Jeantel Tells Radio Host Ricky Smiley She Wants To Be A Lawyer

One of the more reluctant media figures to emerge from the George Zimmerman trial was 19 year-old Rachel Jeantel, the last person to speak to unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin, aside from the man who killed him.

Her contentious exchanges with defense attorney Don West sparked conversations about cultural differences, and the way many in the media reacted to them.

Jeantel’s unpleasant experience in the courtroom hasn’t scarred her too deeply, however, as she told radio host Ricky Smiley, last week, that she aspires to become an attorney.

Jeantel’s time on the witness stand was a focal point of the trial, and was characterized by an intensely antagonistic repartee with defense attorney Don West, who seemed to be trying to provoke Jeantel into reacting negatively, and to present her as a sullen proxy for absent victim Trayvon Martin.

Since the trial, she has made several media appearances, and provided insight into the dynamic between her and West.

That dynamic apparently hasn’t soured Jeantel on West’s profession, though. In an interview with Ricky Smiley last week, Jeantel said she hopes to go to college, with a little help from Smiley and radio superstar Tom Joyner:

She will get into an all-black university, go to Howard and someone will cheat and take the BAR exams for her.

How true. A relative of mine works for the government in DC. Part of the people he supervises are Howard University Law School graduates. They are working for the government because they cannot pass the bar ( I guess they are doing work that doesn't require them to have passed the bar ). He can't stand it. He gets reports from them. They can't even construct a correct sentence, let alone a comprehensive report ( and yes, they use Ebonics. Don't know if they ever submitted anything in cursive)

If it was a real “chance”. Unfortunately for society affirmative-action, white guilt, equal-opportunity and other “programs screw up the reality. A person like her will fail at any college other that kiddie kollege. She is probably 80+ IQ and will only be disappointed in a real chance at college. That’s reality.

When asked what he wanted to be Jethro Bodine said “I’ve narrowed it down between a brain surgeon and a streetcar conductor.”

A defense of incompetent counsel will be use to demonstrate bias.

Living proof, first of all, that our public schools are horrible. And two, that they do give the students really, good self-esteem.

Am I wrong or is she 19 going into her high school senior year? Do people actually graduate HS at 20 years old?

Most drop out at 16 or as soon as legally possible. She should be commended for sticking with it Apparently she had health issues which kept her out of school when she was young

If it was a real “chance”.

A few weeks back, there was raging debate about a young girl fighting for her life. Seems she needed a lung. Massive government regulations, her young age and lack of donors made it an almost certainty that she wouldn't last much longer.

The world witnessed a true miracle in what eventually became a new lease on life for Sarah Murnaghan.

I know the chances are slim, but with hard work, trust and faith in the Almighty, the possibility exists that Ms. Rachel Jeantel might one day become a real attorney.

And I would be willing to bet that most Americans, of every race, would be very, very, proud of her accomplishment!

And in all likelihood, that’s because her teachers have been threatened by administrators if they don’t give her passing grades.

Ted Kennedy could never pass the bar, neither.

I don't think there was a bar on this planet that Ted Kennedy could ever pass without stopping in
